The [[Church Temporalities (Ireland) Act 1834]] combined the [[Church of Ireland]] archdiocese was with the [[Diocese of Killala and Achonry]] on [[April 13]], [[1834]]. On the death of the incumbent archbishop in [[1839]] Tuam lost its metropolitan status. Consequently it now forms part of the '''United Diocese of Tuam, Killala and Achonry'''.
