The '''April 2018 United Kingdom Heatwave''' is a period of unusually hot weather during Spring 2018. The heatwave began on Wednesday 18th April 2018 with the temperature reaching {{convert|25.3|C|F}} at St James' Park, London. A very unusual temperature for so early in the year. <ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/metoffice/status/986789838690181120|title=Met Office on Twitter|website=Twitter|accessdate=29 April 2018}}</ref> The heat then continued into the 19th, when the highest April temperature for almost 70 years was recorded. {{convert|29.1|C|F}} was recorded at St James' Park, London<ref name="standard.co.uk"/>. The current highest temperature ever recorded in April was {{convert|29.4|C|F}}, and was recorded back on 16 April 1949 at [[Camden Square]]<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/climate-extremes/#?tab=climateExtremes|title=UK climate|first=Met|last=Office|website=www.metoffice.gov.uk|accessdate=29 April 2018}}</ref>. Temperatures remained high on Friday 20th, with St James Park, London recording a temperature of {{convert|26.5|C|F}}.<ref>http://www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?lang=en&ind=03770&ano=2018&mes=5&day=5&hora=12&min=0&ndays=30</ref> Also, the heat lasted throughout the weekend of the 21st-22nd. The London Marathon was the warmest on record with the temperature reaching {{convert|24.1|C|F}} beating the old record from 2007. After this, the weather then cooled off and temperatures returned to normal. <ref>http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-43850037</ref>
