Design studio " Ammonite " (English name: Studio "Ammonite") was founded in Tatsunoko Production in 1983 with the intention of reviving the independent section " Character Room " which the founder Tatsuo Yoshida directly controlled. Originating from a Design division as design group. Mainly responsible for work related to the series program of animation, especially television animation , work corresponding to mechanical design in Japanese-made English words and setting text related to the same design.

Staff consistently consisted of three members: the leader Hiroshi Ogawa (小川 浩), Hiroshi Okura (大倉 宏俊), and Takashi Ono (小野 隆) from the establishment to the dissolution.

Later, he became independent from Tatsunoko Production as "Studio Santa Claus" and participated in the first production work of Production I.G " Zillion (TV series) " and so on.

Origin of naming and episode
The name of studio Ammonite is not the Ammonoidea of Cephalopods , but it is a masochistic nomenclature arising from experiences of struggling due to inexperience with regard to the production work in the initial design division start-up process, "The person without drafts" in Kanji "案も無い人" transfer to
Katakana notation ( "Ammoni" (H) ito ", 「アンモナイ "ひ" ト」). As described above, the production work was done in the following role division .

# Summary of design, Hiroshi Ogawa
