The Androsynth are a fictional race of beings featured in the sci-fi Star Control computer game series.

spoiler

The Androsynth are a group of highly intelligent homo sapiens clones. Originally not given equal rights as the common humans, and being forced into a life of work, they went renegade and escaped the Earth in one large movement, having secretly invented hyperspace travel before the Earthlings themselves. Androsynth found their new home in the Vulpeculae constellation, and allied with the Ur-Quan Hierarchy, hoping to perhaps blow away a few of their old repressors while at it.

However, a human exploration vessel intent on meeting with the Androsynth many years later would enter the Vulpeculae system, and on the second planet were found the apparent remains of the Androsynth civilization. Not a single Androsynth, dead or alive, was to be found - just scraps of their buildings and technology. Rumours spread that Androsynth had once again made a great leap in technological prowess, and this had somehow resulted in the disappearance of everyone on their homeworld. The Orz appeared to be aware of them, but they weren't going to reveal anything. The fate of the Androsynth still remains a mystery.

The Androsynth Guardian ship is of very curious design. The strange appearance hides powerful features inside. The primary weapon fires a multitude of bubbles that more or less randomly wade towards the enemy ship. The second mode of attack, however, turns the ship into a blazing comet that, given enough weapon energy, speeds through the battlefield and damages the opponent by ramming it. As it runs out of weapon energy, it turns back into the regular form.
