The following compositions are believed to have been written by [[John Lennon]] and [[Paul McCartney]], but never officially released by [[The Beatles]] or any other artist. Many have appeared on Beatles [[Bootleg recording|bootlegs]]; a notable exception being "[[Carnival of Light]]".{{sfn|Shea|Rodriguez|2002|p=301}} The list of unreleased songs includes some of the earliest [[Lennon–McCartney]] joint works dating back to [[The Quarrymen]], the group which evolved into the Beatles.{{sfn|Everett|2001|p=25}} Several of these songs were revisited during the [[Let It Be|''Get Back'' sessions]] of early 1969.{{sfn|Everett|2001|p=27}}
