== Don't remove references from articles == |
|||
The only time you should move or remove citations is when the referenced source does not appear to support the information that precedes it in the article. If in doubt, leave the citation alone. Citations are important for verifiability by readers. This applies even when we are re-using CC-BY content (as in the case of Moody's Cottages); the content still must be cited (the attribution does not change this obligation). As a general tip for a new contributer, focus on adding information rather than deleting things. Kerry (talk) 21:29, 4 November 2019 (UTC) |
|||
:Kerry Raymond There are way too many inline citations (26) on Moody's Cottages while there is only one reference, though. Surely the citations should be placed at the end of each section, not on every line? <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="background-color:lightgray; color:;"><span style="color:blue;">Dibbydib 💬/✏</span></span></span> 21:47, 4 November 2019 (UTC) |

:When it comes to deleting things on Wikipedia, generally don't delete things unless there is policy directive to do so; this is why I suggest newcomers don't delete things as newcomers are generally unaware of our policies. For example, there is no Wikipedia policy called WP:WAYTOOMANYCITATIONS. Nor do we have WP:IDONTLIKEIT. When it comes to citation, at a minimum every paragraph needs a citation. When content within a paragraph comes from multiple sources, it is commonplace to find multiple citations within a single paragraph. As Wikipedia articles can be modified by other people, maintaining a close relationship between text and source is important for article integrity (see WP:INTEGRITY where you can see that they are discussing citation at the sentence/paragraph level). If you leave a paragraph without citations, it may deleted for being uncited (see WP:NOCITE). When in doubt on Wikipedia, cite too often, not too little. Hi Dibbydib |
|||
I noticed you changed my changes on the definition of the English Democrats Political Party. I can confirm they are NOT a right wing party and are a centre civic nationalist party. They welcome any race to be a member. This is directly from them and I personally know some of them. I have seen first hand that they are genuine so would appreciate you leaving my changes. |

Thanks. |

Hi Dibbydib. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback: |
|||
*Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle. |
|||
*Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits. |

*Rollback should never be used to edit war. |

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. == Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks! == |
|||
Hello, |
|||
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia. |
|||
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in! |
|||
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community. |
|||
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org. |
|||
Thank you! |

== Question == |
|||
Have you ever vandalized Wikipedia logged out, even once. Please be honest here. TonyBallioni (talk) 03:28, 5 December 2019 (UTC) |
|||
: TonyBallioni, since I've basically grown up with Wikipedia, probably yes at one stage or another, but nothing up to this account. In fact, the school I go to is blocked for vandalising currently, and it's become a makeshift tradition to look at the edits the IP made, some of them are rather funny. I think this might have shaped my anti-vandalism behaviour on Wikipedia. |
|||
: However, I've also had some nefarious activity regarding my old account, Macrocoma on which I would vandalise on IP accounts and would then plan to 'cover them up' by adding multiple regular edits onto the page, keeping the vandalism. Delightfully devilish, but it never came to plan because I kinda just stopped using Wikipedia at this point that I came up with the plan. 2 years later I would come to rediscover it, and that's where I am today. |
|||
: The act of 'vandal masking' is scarily effective, but has gone largely unnoticed, with one exeption from this goodfaith edit from 2013 I fixed recently. The last time I ever vandalised would have probably been in late-2017 to early-2018. So, in a way, yes. Thanks for asking, and happy editing. <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="background-color:lightgray; color:;"><span style="color:blue;">dibbydib 💬/✏</span></span></span> 04:04, 5 December 2019 (UTC) |

::So, I ran a check on you as this is obviously not your first account, the odds of you having found Uncyclopedia and learned MediaWiki there before here are practically non-existent, and I strongly suspected that you were one of the random vandal-fighting sockmasters who cause more harm than good.pbYou have definitely vandalized at least once within the last two weeks. I can say that with absolute certainty. I strongly believe in approximately the last month, you went on another vandalism spree and tried to hide the fact it was you by switching browsers, which to me also indicates that you've likely had an account or two blocked here before.pbSince you lied, I'm revoking rollback. You can request it again in a month. I'm not going to block, because I'm not heartless, and I'm sure at some point I vandalized Wikipedia when I was a kid. Just don't do it again. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:16, 5 December 2019 (UTC) |
|||
::: (in a nutshell: you did the right choice, i'm just clarifying some things now) TonyBalloni |
|||
::: Could you check some profiles using IPs? I'm certain I've never had an account blocked. You could even check the contribs of Macrocoma. These are the only two I've ever had. Remember that over 600+ users operate on my school's static (it switches to a roaming ip occasionally) IP address. I kinda agree with the revoke, considering I rarely mess with Wikipedia. Can you show me that spree from one month ago (IP included?). I also do some joke edits which I immediatly revert if that adds anything. If you found my Uncyc through my IP, black <span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="background-color:lightgray; color:;"><span style="color:blue;">dibbydib 💬/✏</span></span></span> 05:27, 5 December 2019 (UTC) |
|||
::::Basically someone at one of the IPs you edit on vandalized some templates, and userboxes, and the user subpage of a well known editor. They had some differences from you, but the ones that indicate a different person but could equally indicate it is someone trying to fool CU. Finding the sub user page of a prominent editor isn't something most IPs do.pbRe: other accounts, there were none I could see, I was more saying in general that the behaviour pattern fits someone who has made some dumb edits at school got blocked a few times, and thinks they are smart enough to trick CU. Anyway, as admins go, I'm very much on the "kids being dumb isn't a big deal" side of the spectrum, but I'm also big on not lying and not vandalizing once you have some degree of community trust. Just don't do it again and everything will be fine :) Also, you said you edited on uncyc on your first user page. No CU magic needed for that one. ::: Done, improved to include more information to make the article look less like an advert, and added an event that happened to the company regarding its advertising. Also removed Advert. - @Kerry Raymond: There are way too many inline citations (26) on Moody's Cottages while there is only one reference, though. Surely the citations should be placed at the end of each section, not on every line? Dibbydib 💬/✏ 21:47, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- When it comes to deleting things on Wikipedia, generally don't delete things unless there is policy directive to do so; this is why I suggest newcomers don't delete things as newcomers are generally unaware of our policies. Kerry (talk) 23:03, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Changes to English Democrats Description
Hi Dibbydib
I noticed you changed my changes on the definition of the English Democrats Political Party. I can confirm they are NOT a right wing party and are a centre civic nationalist party. They welcome any race to be a member. This is directly from them and I personally know some of them. I have seen first hand that they are genuine so would appreciate you leaving my changes.
Thanks.

Thanks, but this is unsourced, unofficial information. Besides "someone on my talk page told me" is not a suitable reference. (sorry if i sound a little passive aggressive its been a long day) dibbydib 💬/✏ 04:11, 13 November 2019 (UTC)- Oops. ArbCom 2019 election voter message
Lothar Kalinowsky
Hello dear Wikipedia fellow volunteer Dibbydib! I wonder if I might persuade you to remove your proposed deletion from Lothar Kalinowsky? A New York Times obituary is generally considered an adequate benchmark of notability. Thank you! Jokestress (talk) 03:16, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Done. I've reviewed it, and have concluded that it meets the A7 criteria. I've removed the PROD off the page, but this needs to be worked on. (If elements of the PROD still remain just reply to this message. Do not delete the talk page PROD message though ;P) dibbydib 💬/✏ 06:03, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for considering my request! Jokestress (talk) 06:57, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
Dayvid Gork
Fine, I shall stop, but whilst you are not associated with Dayvid or his staff, I am for I am one of his staff. i have him on speed-dial and he would be very upset to hear of this development. He didn't leave the Conservatives for nothing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.88.244.179 (talk)
Rollback granted
Hi Dibbydib. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until {expiry}. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! N.J.A. | talk 13:30, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Question
Have you ever vandalized Wikipedia logged out, even once. Please be honest here. TonyBallioni (talk) 03:28, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
- TonyBallioni, since I've basically grown up with Wikipedia, probably yes at one stage or another, but nothing up to this account. In fact, the school I go to is blocked for vandalising currently, and it's become a makeshift tradition to look at the edits the IP made, some of them are rather funny. I think this might have shaped my anti-vandalism behaviour on Wikipedia.
- However, I've also had some nefarious activity regarding my old account, Macrocoma on which I would vandalise on IP accounts and would then plan to 'cover them up' by adding multiple regular edits onto the page, keeping the vandalism. Delightfully devilish, but it never came to plan because I kinda just stopped using Wikipedia at this point that I came up with the plan. 2 years later I would come to rediscover it, and that's where I am today.
- The act of 'vandal masking' is scarily effective, but has gone largely unnoticed, with one exeption from this goodfaith edit from 2013 I fixed recently. The last time I ever vandalised would have probably been in late-2017 to early-2018. So, in a way, yes. Thanks for asking, and happy editing. dibbydib 💬/✏ 04:04, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
- So, I ran a check on you as this is obviously not your first account, the odds of you having found Uncyclopedia and learned MediaWiki there before here are practically non-existent, and I strongly suspected that you were one of the random vandal-fighting sockmasters who cause more harm than good.You have definitely vandalized at least once within the last two weeks. I can say that with absolute certainty. I strongly believe in approximately the last month, you went on another vandalism spree and tried to hide the fact it was you by switching browsers, which to me also indicates that you've likely had an account or two blocked here before.Since you lied, I'm revoking rollback. You can request it again in a month. I'm not going to block, because I'm not heartless, and I'm sure at some point I vandalized Wikipedia when I was a kid. Just don't do it again. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:16, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
- (in a nutshell: you did the right choice, i'm just clarifying some things now)
- Could you check some profiles using IPs? I'm certain I've never had an account blocked. You could even check the contribs of Macrocoma. These are the only two I've ever had. Remember that over 600+ users operate on my school's static (it switches to a roaming ip occasionally) IP address. I kinda agree with the revoke, considering I rarely mess with Wikipedia. Can you show me that spree from one month ago (IP included?). I also do some joke edits which I immediatly revert if that adds anything. If you found my Uncyc through my IP, damn, that's some scary shit right there. dibbydib 💬/✏ 05:27, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
- Basically someone at one of the IPs you edit on vandalized some templates, and userboxes, and the user subpage of a well known editor. They had some differences from you, but the ones that indicate a different person but could equally indicate it is someone trying to fool CU. Finding the sub user page of a prominent editor isn't something most IPs do.Re: other accounts, there were none I could see, I was more saying in general that the behaviour pattern fits someone who has made some dumb edits at school got blocked a few times, and thinks they are smart enough to trick CU. TonyBallioni (talk) 05:46, 5 December 2019 (UTC)

Alpecin: NPOV
I noticed you added an NPOV tag to the Alpecin article.
I created it as part of the updates I was adding to the Katusha-Alpecin cycling team.
Can you clarify why you think it is not a neutral POV? Silvire (talk) 09:28, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- Self-trout, removed NPOV, added Advert since it looks a bit like an advertisement to me at this point. Forgot the template for a while. Happy editing! dibbydib 💬/✏ 23:22, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
- If you think it looks a bit like an advertisement, would you care to edit it or provide feedback? Adding a tag without justification or reasons goes against Wikipedia etiquette. Silvire (talk) 07:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Done, improved to include more information to make the article look less like an advert, and added an event that happened to the company regarding its advertising. Also removed Advert. FYI, if an article only includes some information about what the company does, its sponsors, and things the company would gladly advertise itself, and only that, that would be considered as a borderline advert itself, thus the Advert tag dibbydib 💬/✏ 08:36, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
