Romanized spelling of surname

In English-language references cite, the surname is written "Avi-Yitzhak", the common romanization of the Hebrew given name Yitzhak. See the lead sentence in Isaac (name). In this case: is it known what spelling the subject himself uses? Translation of a surname, as it appears here, is unlikely. -- Deborahjay (talk) 15:18, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

After consulting a member of his family she said that her family writes the surname as Avi-Isaac, I do acknowledge that most sources on the internet use different spelling but from what the family member told me Avi-Isaac is the correct one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tuvalevsku (talk • contribs) 18:13, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

According to the rules of Wikipedia, such input from the subject's family might be considered "original research" as not coming from if not supported by a published source. I wouldn't consider the Haaretz English edition authoritative in this matter, considering it's a translation of a Hebrew source and unclear where the translators or editors obtain their information. The citation of his brother's memorial page on the Technion website in English refers to the late Professor Emeritus Benjamin Avi-Itzhak and widow Tamar Avi-Itzhak. So for the subject of this page under construction, I suggest looking at similar references such as the Israel Bar Association, faculty of the Hebrew University law school, etc. In any event, alternate spellings can be added to the existing Wikidata item as aliases, and REDIRECT pages created here as needed.-- Deborahjay (talk) 20:14, 10 March 2020 (UTC)

According to the Israel Bar Association's official website, after searching for 'Dan' in the first name search field, and 'Avi' in the surname search field in hope that it will give me the full name, I got the name Dan Avi-Isaac.
