The Sudan People's Liberation Army/Movement was a rebel movement in Sudan, which emerged in 1983 and was led by John Garang de Mabior. SPLA/M consisted of a military wing, the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), and a political wing, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM).
