Meditation Therapy is a very broad reference to the use of techniques associated with [[meditation]] for the treatment of a psychological or physiological disorder. Given the generality of this term, any attempt to define it as specific to any given meditative technique or type of disorder should be considered as either ignorance or a biased special pleading. Meditation is a term used to denote both a state of body/mind/soul/spirit and the techniques that have been historically employed to attain such a state. In the [[Hindu]] system, it is the the "seventh limb" of [[yoga]], known as [[dhyana]], the eight limbs being (1) External moral practices, (2) Internal moral practices, (3) Bodily control, (4) Breath control, (5) Sensory control, (6) Concentration, (7) Meditation, (8) Bliss.

Various religions have, at some points in their history, developed their own techniques of meditation.
