Jessica is the younger twin sister to Elizabeth Wakefield. Her interests change regularly and are usually influenced by whatever guy she is interested in at the moment. Her usual hobbies include acting, surfing and dancing, while cheerleading could be considered her true passion.

Despite everything, Jessica truly loves Elizabeth, who is her best friend in the entire world.

Sweet Valley High
As cheerleading co-captain and president of Pi Beta Alpha, the most exclusive sorority in school, Jessica Wakefield was easily the most popular girl in her class. Unlike Liz, who was friends with everyone, Jess refused to befriend anyone she considered beneath her. Her best friends, Lila Fowler, Cara Walker and Amy Sutton were also popular and stylish.

Jessica tended to be snobbish and conniving at times, using her looks and popularity to get what she wanted. Her tendency to wreak havoc earned her the nickname 'Hurricane Jess.'

She used her position as Pi Beta Alpha president to blackball Robin Wilson, who was overweight at the time. Robin ended up losing weight and becoming cheerleading co-captain with Jessica.

Jessica also tried to prevent Annie Whitman, who had a reputation for being easy, from joining the cheerleading squad. After Annie tried to commit suicide, Jessica relented and allowed her to join the squad.

In the beginning of the series, Jessica dated around. This changed after she met AJ Morgan, a transfer student, who became her boyfriend. After their break up, Sam Woodruff became her boyfriend. Sadly, Sam was killed in a drunken car crash. Jessica was indirectly the cause of this crash; after spiking Elizabeth's drink at the Jungle Prom, Elizabeth drove, causing the crash that killed Sam.

After a few more flings, Jessica settled down with Ken Matthews.

Sweet Valley High Senior Year
Senior year saw a lot of changes in Jessica's life. The earthquake that occured at the end of the Sweet Valley High series destroyed nearby El Carro High, and the El Carro students transferred to Sweet Valley High.

After hooking up with Will Simmons, Jessica incurred the wrath of his girlfriend, Melissa Fox, who spread rumours about Jessica. Lila and Amy took Melissa's side and Jessica's image was temporarily shattered.

Despite Melissa's attempts to sabotage her try-out, Jessica remained on the cheerleading squad, although captaincy was passed on to Tia Ramirez.

A turbulent on/off relationship with Will was followed by a steadier, more compassionate relationship with Jeremy Aames. Jessica eventually patched up her life, making new friends and sorting things out with Lila at the end of the series.

Sweet Valley Univeristy
Shortly after starting college, Jessica married bad boy Mike McAllery. The marriage lasted a month and was later annulled.

Later in the series she dated Nick Fox, an undercover cop. When a case put Nick's life in danger, he faked his death to protect Jessica.
