After assisting Rahul Rawail on his 2001 directorial Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Anand co-wrote the 2004 hit Hum Tum where he also worked as executive producer and associate director. |
|||
Anand then started his own production house, Marflix, and directed its debut film Fighter (2024), an aerial action film, starring Padukone, Roshan and Anil Kapoor. The film serves as the first in a planned aerial action franchise. He is set to take his production venture ahead with King, which will reportedly feature Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan and will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh. |

His first directorial was the 2005 romantic comedy Salaam Namaste featuring Saif Ali Khan & Preity Zinta, that was the year's biggest hit internationally. Anand's next two ventures Ta Ra Rum Pum and Bachna Ae Haseeno were also commercially successful. These three films were part of his contract with Yash Raj Films. |

This was followed by his first directorial produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra 2010 |

starrer Anjaana Anjaani which was an average grosser. |

===Comeback and establishment (2014–present)=== |
|||
Anand came back to direction in 2014 after a gap of 4 years with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bang Bang!, an official adaptation of a Hollywood film Knight and Day, that was highly successful at the box office and became Anand's first film to enter 100 Crore Club. |
|||
In 2017, Anand announced that he will direct and co-produce (with Yash Raj Films) the remakes of the five films of Sylvester Stallone's Hollywood film franchise Rambo, that will star Tiger Shroff but it was getting delayed again & again due to major multiple reasons. And after three years, in 2020, he stepped down from direction whose command was finally given to director Rohit Dhawan, who is also his friend, but still he is co-producer. |
|||
First reason for delaying Rambo remake was Anand's fifth film with Yash Raj Films, the 2019 action thriller War starring Roshan and Shroff, which banged at the box office and surpassed many records upon its release, entering the 300 Crore Club and establishing Anand as a major film director. |
|||
Since November 2020, Anand is the director for his currently shot film Pathan, produced again by YRF and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham as prominent characters. Once he wraps up Pathan, he will begin work on FIGHTER. |
|||
In January 2021, Siddharth Anand started his own production house named MARFLIX, a production house dedicated to action film making in India. |
|||
On January 10, 2021 on Hrithik Roshan's Birthday, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone announced that they will be working in Siddharth Anand's directorial FIGHTER under his newly started production house named MARFLIX also his and his wife Mamta's first outing as a producer, which is to be released on Sept 30, 2022. Then Anand will begin to work on the sequel of War titled War 2 in which he will again reunite with Roshan. |

Siddharth Raj Anand is an Indian filmmaker. He is the grandson of screenwriter Inder Raj Anand and is primarily known for his work with Yash Raj Films. He first became known for directing the successful romantic comedies Salaam Namaste (2005), Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and Anjaana Anjaani (2010). He then established himself as a leading action filmmaker with Bang Bang! (2014) and the YRF Spy Universe films: War (2019) and Pathaan (2023). These films rank among the highest-grossing Hindi films.[2]
In 2021, Anand launched his own production company called Marflix. Its first release was the aerial action film Fighter (2024).
Early and personal life
[edit]Anand's father is Bittu Anand, the producer of the vigilante action film Shahenshah (1988). His paternal grandfather is writer Inder Raj Anand.[3] He is married to Mamta Anand (née Bhatia) and has a son, Ranveer.[4] Along with his wife, he owns and runs a production house called Marflix Pictures.[5]
Career
[edit]Continuing in the YRF Spy Universe, Anand's seventh film was the action thriller Pathaan (2023), starring Shah Rukh Khan, Padukone and John Abraham. This film marked Khan's comeback after a four-year hiatus.[6]
Anand is the only Hindi film director with five 50+ crore net box office days and five 100+ crore worldwide gross box office days. Pathaan established a Bollywood opening day record of over 57 crores net domestically and over 106 crores worldwide. The film earned over 543 crores net domestically and over 1058 Crores worldwide and thus respectively entered the 500 Crore Club in India/Bollywood and the 1000 Crore Club Worldwide.[7][8]
Anand then started his own production house, Marflix, and directed its debut film Fighter (2024), an aerial action film, starring Padukone, Roshan and Anil Kapoor. The film serves as the first in a planned aerial action franchise.[9][10] He is set to take his production venture ahead with King, which will reportedly feature Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan and will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh.[11]
