''Ferula gummosa'' is usually [[monocarpic]], which means it flowers and fruits only once in a life time before its death. However, there are also some [[polycarpic]] genotypes found in Iran.<ref>{{Cite journal|last=Ali|first=Ammarellou|last2=Valiollah|first2=Mozaffarian|year=2017|title=The first report of polycarpic genotype in galbanum (''Ferula gummosa'') populations|url=https://www.sid.ir/en/journal/ViewPaper.aspx?id=535076|journal=Iranian Journal of Botany|volume=23|issue=1|pages=48–55}}</ref>
