Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Article list

I suggest ditching the list of articles "To expand or edit". I don't think anybody will volunteer to manage it and we have categories Stub-Class Slovenia articles and Start-Class Slovenia articles. --Yerpo (talk) 14:52, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Support. Still, the article still to be created needs to stay. --Tone 14:55, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Yup, I didn't mean to remove the missing articles list. PS, I've been classifying a lot of previously unclassified articles; please check my assessment in the Slovenia articles by importance subcategories. --Yerpo (talk) 14:57, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Wow, there are 9000+ articles without importance assessed. Was the project added by bot or by some user to all of those? --Tone 15:01, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
More like 900+. Apparently User:Merenta has been abusing AWB :P I thought asking some bot operator to mass replace {{WikiProject Europe|Slovenia=yes|...}} with {{WikiProject Slovenia|...}}. The only problem is that in some cases, |Slovenia=yes parameter is after the assessment parameters. But I don't think this is a priority right now. --Yerpo (talk) 15:57, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it's a big problem for a skilled bot operator. You should ask someone, so that the old template is updated and so that noone will use it in future. And yes, 900+ This is a bit more reasonable number. --Tone 21:15, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
I left the request at WP:BOTREQ. I'll finish tagging articles in the "To expand or edit" section before I remove it. --Yerpo (talk) 07:35, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Notice of bot request to convert WikiProject Slovenia banners

I have requested permission to run an automated script that will add {{WikiProject Slovenia}} banners to all pages in Category:Slovenia task force articles. This process will remove the WikiProject Europe banner from many of these pages. See the discussion at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/DustyBot 3. Thanks. Wronkiew (talk) 18:01, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

This is done. One page, User talk:John Carter/Europe banner, contained a project banner that I didn't know what to do with. After that one is edited, no instance of {{WikiProject Europe}} will use the "Slovenia=" or "Slovenia-importance=" parameters. Wronkiew (talk) 04:54, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
That one looks like a test, so it might as well stay. Thanks a lot. --Yerpo (talk) 06:45, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Maribor bridge!?!

Article Maribor Bridge is shockingly misleading, it implies that there is only one bridge in Maribor, which is far from truth, as we know. Any opinions?T@Di (talk) 21:19, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

You're right, this article is nonsense, so just fix it if you have the time. Probably the author thought that there was a bridge with this name ("Mariborski most"), but the pictures included show more than one bridge. My suggestion would be to make a List of bridges in Maribor and make a redirect out of Maribor Bridge. --Yerpo (talk) 06:10, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

First aid on the way :D --T@Di (talk) 12:24, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Lipizzan

Since the article on the Lipizzan horse is a part of this WikiProject, some you may be interested in the discussion regarding that article (Talk:Lipizzan). Does the breed originate in Slovenia? That's what virtually all foreign-language versions of Wikipedia acknowledge, but some editors of English Wikipedia don't think so. They are surprised that "we periodically have people discussing that the Lipizzan is really from Slovenia" and insist on having just "Central Europe" listed as the origin of the breed in the article's infobox (Lipizzan). They say that Lipica was just one of many stud farms where the breed was established, and therefore cannot possibly be called "the place of origin". Do you agree? Can you contribute to the discussion? Can you provide credible sources that mention Lipica as the source of the breed? Any help would be greatly appreciated! --WorldWide Update (talk) 16:28, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Jakob Aljaž

Hi. Can someone look up in a reliable source the exact date of birth of Jakob Aljaž? On English, Slovenian, Dutch Wikipedias it is 6th July, but on Portuguese you can find 6th June. Also googling gets both dates. Thank you. --Tomaxer (talk) 13:46, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Medvode municipality (where he was born) officialy celebrates his birthday on 6th July. I think they would know. --Yerpo (talk) 17:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
OK, thank you. --Tomaxer (talk) 14:53, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Pesnica

Hello everybody, I'm from the french wikipedia. I have seen that the english wikipedia has the article Pesnica (kraj) and Pesnica. Two articles for only one village. I think it will be necessary to do something ! :) Bye bye. Sylfred1977 (talk) 17:38, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Slovenian mountain huts

Hello, I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask this, but I am at a bit of a loose end. I am visiting Slovenia this summer, and would like to stay in some of the mountain huts in the Triglav region. Do you know whether it is necessary to make reservations in the summer, and if so how would I go about this? I've tried online at www.slovenia.info, but without success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. --86.158.127.223 (talk) 18:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Try asking for information at info.pdljmatica@siol.net, the e-mail address of the Ljubljana-Matica Mountaineering Club that holds several major huts in the region. --Eleassar my talk 19:04, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Wikiproject banner

The blue banner seems very obtrusive. When I visited the page I thought at first my operating system reports an error. Probably something more simple should be used instead. --Eleassar my talk 12:44, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

You are all invited to join WikiProject TRANSWIKI and join the Slovenian language transwiki project. The aim is to draw up a full directory of missing articles from Slovenian wikipedia and build a team of translators to work at bridging the gaps in knowledge and to improve existing articles by translation. We need your help, so if there are any Slovenian speakers here please join up as your language skills are crucial. Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:46, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Municipality

Someone please fix up the Jesenice municipality page to be like that of most municipalities... like for example Kranj. The flag won't show up on the infobox. (LAz17 (talk) 01:36, 15 October 2009 (UTC)).

Slovenian municipality infoboxes don't have a parameter for flags, so I put the image of the CoA there. One of the larger problems with coverage of Slovenian cities is that someone should put data about cities and municipalities they are a capitol of in separate articles. Currently, those two concepts are mangled together in most of them. But it's a large and complex project for which apparently there isn't enough enthusiasm right now. --Yerpo (talk) 07:10, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
We seem to have two types of municipality infoboxes. The regular infobox, and this slovenian one. The regular one is suprior, as it has more information, and plus it allows for flags to be put up. Ljbuljana, Maribor, Celje, and others are with the superior one. Not only does it include the flag, it includes a lot more. (LAz17 (talk) 17:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)).
These Slovenian infoboxes should be upgraded or replaced by the regular ones. --Eleassar my talk 10:44, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Flags

I got some guy to make a new category, and I am slowly dumping slovenian flags into it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Flags_of_Slovenia . In case anyone's interested, that's there. I'm uploading new ones and going slowly. (LAz17 (talk) 17:58, 16 October 2009 (UTC)).
