No citations or sources directly state that this gang is "the most dangerous and violent in the world". Maybe remove the mention or change to more formal wording TynoPk (talk) 10:35, 29 August 2022 (UTC)

The assertion that "In 2018, the gang's US membership of up to 10,000 accounted for less than 1% of the 1.4 million gang members in the United States, and a similar share of gang murders" has no supporting citation, could one be provided? The claim “The gang is often referenced by the United States' Republican Party to advocate for stricter immigration policies” has no citations, is timely/ may not be true over time even if it is now, and it is also leading because the sentence before suggests the gang size is small in numbers compared to all gangs in the US. This statement and it’s placement looks like political bias on an unsupported claim 100.2.166.215 (talk) 10:59, 27 April 2023 (UTC)

Headstones Destroyed

[edit]

November 2022, video purporting to show systematic destruction of monuments (including on graves and headstones) to MS-13. ref>https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/yp9w94/el_salvadors_fight_against_gangs_takes_a_new_turn/</ref> Maybe too new, but this seems like it might be a significant cultural action.

Addition to etymology

[edit]

Salvatrucha also has the colloquial term trucha in it. Which in cholo slang means look out. Salvatrucha is a portmanteau of salvadorian and A Look out(someone watching out for cops etc.). Thanks for your time!

MS-13 gains recruits and power in U.S. as teens surge across border -WaPo

[edit]

The rise in violence has hit especially hard on Long Island and in Boston, Houston and the D.C. area, with authorities linking dozens of killings to the gang. MS-13's new push has been fueled by the recent influx of teenage immigrants like Danny, who traveled to the United States without guardians to escape poverty and gang violence only to fall back into it here, according to a Washington Post investigation that included reviews of dozens of court cases as well as interviews with local and federal law enforcement, attorneys, families and immigration experts.[1]

This internal migration has coincided with a spike in the number of UACs arriving in the United States. Many of these UACs have settled in areas where the MS13 has a presence, and a significant number have been charged with crimes in or near the areas where they settled. (Jouvenal, 2017) Law enforcement experts consulted by InSight Crime said they believed there was coordination – from the top down – to There is no evidence that gangs determine or finance international migration. InSight Crime and CLALS / MS13 in the Americas 61 position these migrants. Some experts even said the migrants were “coached” by the leaders, so they could successfully get past US immigration officials [2]
