This page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting a refund of a deleted article.

This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

Declined pending further information. This was undeleted over six months ago with a pledge that it would be worked on, but no edits were made to improve the entry for resubmission. Draft space is not an indefinite hosting service for material found to be unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia's article mainspace. We may be willing to restore it again, but only if you provide a definite assurance that you actually intend to work on it and provide a short description of what you intend to do to improve it to meet our policies and guidelines. I'll be honest, I don't know what's wrong with the draft—I never worked on it (though someone I know off-wiki did, probably over a year ago now). My thought was that I'd look at it and try to fix any issues that I could, then resubmit it to AfC (or perhaps move it to mainspace) if I were able to get it to a more acceptable state. History-only undeletion of a CamelCase redirect from 2001 (with remaining history from 2002). When history-merging it with the Rosa Parks page back in 2010, I left the old redirect revisions behind, but in response to the discovery that Rosa Parks was the first woman to get a biography on Wikipedia (see this draft press release), the redirect has recently been re-created by Pigsonthewing, who was the one who posed the question of who was the first woman to get a biography here which I was able to definitively answer. I happen to know (from memory and checking old database dumps) that there's no interesting history there anymore, but I think that information should be available to everyone now and that a history undeletion at the "RosaParks" redirect page would be harmless. The deleting admin also called out the promotional language in the article, under the criterion WP:CSD#G11. Consider rewriting the article from scratch in your own words, and do so in a neutral manner that doesn't constantly emphasize the greatness of the company. For example, from the article, it is hard to figure out that the company is based in Montreal. The article is so busy promoting that it doesn't say much about the actual company. I didn't have time to analyze the sources, but I had briefly checked the article and it appeared to be an extensive history of this Somali base with dozens of references. If you can't improve it, then it'll fade back to deletion. What's the difference between this and disputing e.g. a PROD tag on the article – Why would, in this case, I be required to have it submitted to AFC? As an article that has been deleted and not improved, all of the reasons for deleting it still stand. Since it went through AFD once, it can easily go through AFD and fail again. With no improvements, it would be an even easier case for deletion. As well, a second AFD deletion would automatically be a hard deletion and not a soft one, even if the 2nd AFD were identical to the first. As a draft, it has more time (six months with no one making an edit) for you to garner support for the draft, or to gather resources to improve it. Further, if it is deleted as a draft, it would be G13, and so can easily be restored through WP:RFU. - UtherSRG (talk) 01:21, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

According to WP:SOFTDELETE, the article can be restored for any reason on request. Just because an article was deleted does not mean it should have been. The only reason given for deletion was that Most sources in this article are either broken or not related to it at all. and that the nominator did not find further sources. However, I heavily doubt that an appropriate BEFORE search was done, given that this is a 1910s Somali military base/government (the coverage would likely be offline journals in the Somali language) and the nominator has a history of poor AFDs (see their AFDStats page, which shows a success rate of ~50% on a few dozen nominations) – and no one else commented besides that user. To be honest, it'd probably be better to go through AFD again than just sit in draftspace and get deleted, given that we might have some people actually participate, as my access of sources likely to cover this is extremely limited. FWIW, if someone can decline a request even when it says that it can be restored for any reason on request, then that wording doesn't make sense; if that were really the case, it'd say something like that it "may be restored on request", as the "any reason" part would be unnecessary. The only "options" you've really given me are vague things such as 'fix the issues from the deletion discussion' (which were even more vague), "garner support for the draft", and DRV, which, as far as I'm aware, is not for issues such as these.
