Meant to show this to you a few days ago, but I saw this edit and figured you'd fid the Creative Commons text attribution notice template useful. If you add it through the insert template tool, there's a nice drop down window of all the compatible license options. Hope this helps! I was in the middle of writing a lengthy response to your PROD nomination when Pppery moved the dab page and resolved the situation. Here is what I was in the middle of writing when the redlink I was referring to turned blue because Pppery had done exactly what I was suggesting should happen: |
|||
:Thank you, GreenLipstickLesbian!! That particular draft article had been declined for copyright violations twice, even though the "copyright issues" were with MNopedia, which is under CC by SA 3.0, so I was trying to find a way to make that clear for future reviewers. I looked around for an easy way to add a Creative Commons attribution and couldn't find a good way to do it. Significa liberdade <small>(she/her)</small> (talk) 17:07, 26 November 2024 (UTC) |

It's interesting to see that Significa liberdade has suggested WP:SIMILAR as justifying deleting this disambiguation page. I'd like to point out that WP:SIMILAR is about "". That is not the situation here. In this case, one article was named "Intensive Care (film)" and the other was named "Intensive Care (2022 film)". Both of those article titles were disambiguated, but one of them was disambiguated fully, while the other was not. This is more of what one would call a WP:INCOMPLETEDAB or WP:PARTIALDAB situation, not an instance where one title is disambiguated and the other is not. |
|||
::I was going to make some comment about how either of the text attribution notices we added should have tripped a message in Earwig letting the reviewer know that the article claimed to be from a compatibly licensed source, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Hmmm. For an example of what I'm talking about, Template:Source-attribution trips a warning when you use Earwig on the Dick Cheney article. I think this might be an issue with draftspace though, because the Template:PD-notice using Draft:Rocky Reach AVA doesn't show a message either. |
|||
::Sorry to bother you @Chlod, but have I a) guessed what's going on and b) is this intentional? I could have sworn Earwig used to pick up these templates in draft space. Have I lost my mind? GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 00:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:::I'm answering my own questions here.Template:CCBYSASource doesn't trip the Earwig warning, even in mainspace. (As evidenced by running checks on Lithuanian Armed Forces or Mammal) Parkinson's disease) uses the creative commons attribution notice template, and doesn't trip the warning. Fishing vessel has Template:Free-content attribution, which trips the filter, and a creative commons notice template, which does not. John F. Kennedy uses PD-notice and does not trip the warning. So it just doesn't scan for everything. :::::Yes, that looks perfect! I mean okay the citation generator filled in the wrong author or something, but I'll fix that. You always have the option of putting the template inside the ref tags of the source itself, but that's really just a matter of preference. (Unless there's some obscure MOS guideline saying we only put this template inside the ref tags on a full moon, and even then only if the url ends in a vowel. If that's the case, then if I disappear you know which cabal is after me!) GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 01:42, 15 December 2024 (UTC) |

:::Hi, @GreenLipstickLesbian! Surprisingly, this is the first time I saw Earwig showed these kinds of banners. Your assessment was right, though. After looking at the code, it seems it specifically looks for: CC-notice, Citation-attribution, Free-content attribution, Open-source attribution, and Source-attribution. Other templates won't trigger the banner. This can be changed though; I'll look into doing that for templates mentioned here that don't trip the banner when I have free time. :) <span style="background:#ffff55">Chlod</span> <small style="font-size:calc(1em - 2pt)">(say hi!)</small> 02:53, 27 November 2024 (UTC) |

WP:SIMILAR could probably use a bit of clarification about some of this, as it does not mention the possibility that it might be a good idea for the title of one or both of the articles in question to be changedsnd it just assumes the titles will stay what they currently are. The hatnote approach is only appropriate when one of the topics is considered a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, which does not appear to be the case in this instance. Neither of the two topics seems dramatically more important than the other or dramatically more popular with readers. |
|||
Could you please edit and publish my draft article > Draft:Glossary on using PC Computer |
|||
Moreover, I'd like to point out the WP:NCFILMS naming convention, which says that the titles of articles about films should be fully disambiguated, not partially disambiguated. Partial disambiguation is a bit of a tricky topic, but I don't think it's necessary to get into that detail in this instance, since there is no indication that one of the two topics is a "primary" topic. |

In the end, it would probably be best to redirect Intensive Care (film) to Intensive Care (disambiguation), but unfortunately that's a redlink. Until that page is created, it seems clear that Intensive Care (film) should be a disambiguation page. At the moment, instead of having such a disambiguation page, the Intensive care medicine article has an unwieldy hatnote at the top mentioning seven other topics that people might actually be looking for when they land on that page. |

:::# There is not enough information about the organization in the article to provide sufficient context and understanding of the topic. At present, the article seems to focus on Mohamad Al-Mail, not the organization. |

The link you used in your edit summary on :Fawzia Amin Sido was a red link. :Wikipedia:CTOP/AI |
|||
This draft was created over a year ago so it was not an appropriate subject for draftification. Moving an article to Draft space is only appropriate for newly created articles or for articles where an AFD was closed with a decision to draftify an article. Some editors do move articles to Draft space if they suspect paid editing but you didn't state that as a reason but because of a lack of sources. In cases like this, you might consider tagging an article for BLPPROD instead. Thank you. <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">Liz</span> Read! Talk! 01:28, 7 October 2023 (UTC) |

I'm "aware" of the contentious topic, so I think I know what you meant. But I have seen a red link in other similar edit summaries, I don't know if they were also you. |
|||
:Hi, Liz! Thank you for reaching out about this. Although the article was created a year ago, it was only moved into the main space on 12 August 2023, which is in the 90-day period for draftification. At present, this issue isn't addressed in WP:DRAFTIFY nor the related discussion. Is there something else these nuances are discussed? Significa liberdade (talk) 01:39, 7 October 2023 (UTC) |

:Hey man im josh Bringing you into this conversation since the topic of creation date vs. publication date was recently discussed in the NPP Discord. Significa liberdade (talk) 01:42, 7 October 2023 (UTC) |
|||
::@Liz: My interpretation, and I believe the interpretation that a lot of people at NPP have, is that the 90 days starts from the moment the article hits main space. Similarly, many of us have believed that, when redirects are turned into articles, that the clock starts ticking from the time that the page is no longer a redirect. I believe that that reflects the intentions of the guideline at WP:DRAFTIFY, even if not explicitly clarified. Hey man im josh (talk) 01:57, 7 October 2023 (UTC) |
|||
:::Agreed. Although this isn't clearly stated as such in WP:DRAFTIFY, the reasons behind the 90-day rule of thumb refer to the time when an article exists in the mainspace. As an exaggerated example, one could create anything in their sandbox and move it to the mainspace after 91 days; it doesn't mean that the article couldn't be draftified on day 92. The case here isn't much different, since the article was in draft space for a long time until it was moved to the mainspace by its creator. The 90-day rule assumes that an article is stable and not frequently looked at beyond that time, making draftifying a slow form of deletion. This clearly doesn't apply to an article that wasn't in the mainspace or used to be a redirect. Rkieferbaum (talk) 02:48, 7 October 2023 (UTC) |

I also wanted to see the discussion about it. Is that what the red link was supposed to direct to? I don't object, I only wanted to read it. |

Hello, Significa liberdade, |
|||
Tag me please if you reply here, but an answer on the talk page for that page might be better, for anyone else who sees the red link in the history and wants to know more. |
|||
While the 90 day rule might be fuzzy on exactly when this period starts, it is clear that articles should only be draftified once and you moved this article to Draft space twice today. Perhaps you were just very busy when you were working on the project and didn't notice when you came across the article again. But please check the page history before draftifying an article to make sure it hasn't already been draftified before. Another editor reverted the page move. ::This check already exists in the script. If you start the script on the page right now, it shows the "previous draftification" warning. :Hi, Zimidar! The citations currently provided on the Nasir Zaman article fall under the category of ref-bombing. In this case, the vast majority of citations on the page do not provide significant coverage for the subject. That is, the sources "briefly namecheck the fact that the subject exists, but are not actually about the subject to any non-trivial degree". Can you find sources that provide significant coverage for Zaman or explain to me how any of the sources on the page currently meet the criteria? == Editing & Confused == |

Thank-you so much for your quick feedback regarding my article attempt! I've been backwards and forwards through it, ran it through 3 different online Wikpedia checkers (just as a tool, not for editing). Still not sure I have it, not even sure I'm typing in the correct place. :) Drafting way harder than editing, I live in South Africa (but Canadian born), editing to fill Africa knowledge gaps is fun, drafting not so fun. I'd be grateful for any feedback. A little ironically, I'm a communications consultant, over 20 years experience, I generally consider myself a super expert at picking up and mimicking style and voice, but yikes, this is not easy. Much thanks!! DeborahAfrica (talk) 16:12, 22 December 2024 (UTC) |

:Hi, DeborahAfrica, and thanks for reaching out! Creating articles is definitely challenging! Many people tend to start out with creating articles without realizing how difficult it can be to do well. One of the issues is that, in the "real world", we're often inundated with promotional or otherwise non-neutral language. I took a quick look at your draft, and it certainly looks way less promotional now. When you submit for review, I'll let another reviewer look at it to provide another opinion. Let me know if you have any further questions! ::Hi there, Huffyman2007, and thank you for reaching out! Before I provide any specific guidance, can you tell me if you have a conflict of interest with Garret Huffman? On Wikipedia, a conflict of interest can arise whenever you edit articles "about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships" (see WP:COI). |
|||
::Regardless, whenever you're writing a Wikipedia article, you want to make sure the article has an encyclopedic tone. This means highlighting the most important, relevant information, as well as refraining from "hyping" the subject. As an example of the former from your draft, I'm curious about the relevance of Huffman's basketball teaming winning the JV Basketball State championship. If we imagine ourselves as historians, looking back at Huffman in 50-100 years from now, would that be an important detail? Playing JV basketball is fairly common, so unless it's highly important to the subject's trajectory, it's likely irrelevant. As for the second point (i.e., hyping), I look to sentences such as "Covid hit and changed the trajectory of Garrett's life tremendously". This type of phrasing creates an exciting story that the reader may be interested to read, but it's not encyclopedic in tone. |
|||
::I hope that makes sense! Writing in an encyclopedic tone is incredibly difficult, and it takes practice to learn! For examples of well-written articles, I recommend checking out those designated as Good Articles. A list of Good Articles about musicians can be found here. == Review on the submission untitled "Quantum phase space approach" == |
|||
Hello, thank you for the review on the submission untitled "Quantum phase space approach" . However , I don't understand why you declined it because the sources that are used as references are peer reviewed high quality scientific journals ? Rshon13 : all of the contents are based on these "peer reviewed" sources. (talk) 06:04, 26 December 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:Hi, Rshon13! Thank you for reaching out! The Draft:Quantum phase space approach article was not declined due to inadequate sourcing. As you said, it is based on peer-reviewed articles. However, the article needs to be written in an encyclopedic tone. As another reviewer commented, some of the article reads as if it were "a lesson in school". The following sentence is a good example: "We first consider the simple example of a system with one degree of freedom." To help figure out how to write in the appropriate tone, it may be helpful to check out articles designated as Good Articles. You can find physics articles here. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions, comments, and/or concerns. :) Significa liberdade <small>(she/her)</small> (talk) 21:42, 26 December 2024 (UTC) |

Hi! You denied submission of a draft had been working on, I was awondering if you could help leave a better, descriptive reason as to what I need to change to get it to publishing status? |

My draft is Draft:Societas Classica Academiae Pinkertoniae Aperson118 (talk) 02:50, 28 December 2024 (UTC) |
|||
:Hi, Aperson118, and thank you for reaching out! When deciding which articles should be on Wikipedia, we establish notability using reliable, independent sources with significant coverage of the topic. At present, the draft includes a lot of primary sources, which do not establish notability. For example, a school newsletter talking about the club makes the club important to the school, but it doesn't show why the club is notable beyond the school--particularly for a global audience. Other sources provided seem to be from local newspapers, which can be used, but if you can find sources talking about this club that are more removed (e.g., scholarly articles or larger newspapers), that would be beneficial. |

== Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup! == |
|||
Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. |
|||
For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round. |
|||
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth, Epicgenius, Frostly, Guerillero and Lee Vilenski. :Thanks for the ping @Shirt58. Just to explain, I draftified Draft:Aneo while doing NPP, because the sources fell far short of GNG, but I didn't want to request speedy as I thought the author might welcome an opportunity to work on it further. The move seemed to go through okay, at least I didn't see anything unusual... although saying that, I'm not actually sure what a bork looks like (is it a fish or fowl?). My draftifications shouldn't leave a redir behind, so how the current Aneo got created, I don't know, but whatever "replication lag" is, it sounds like a plausible culprit. This is the first article I've worked on from partly scratch (partly, because it was translated from Norwegian, so therefore not written entirely from scratch), and I made the dumb assumption that the standards were enforced more or less universally across the wikis, and that the sources would be fine here if they were fine elsewhere. |
|||
::I'm planning to copy over the updates back to nowiki when it's good here as well. The more I read up on stuff, the more I'm seeing the significant problems in the source wiki. I mostly just need to figure out how to write stuff before I can make more proper progress on it. The overwhelming majority of my edits are counter-vandalism edits, which are trivial in comparison to writing content. |
|||
::Also, while I'm already writing stuff somewhere, the orphan status (that briefly appeared before it was drafted instead) is fairly easily resolvable. The asset shift means that, among other power plants, the ownership in Fosen Vind is out of date (https://www.fosenvind.no/om-fosen-vind/; the ownership list is identical, but with Aneo instead of TrønderEnergi). This is also why I started with Aneo; doesn't really make sense to update the out-of-date stuff unless there's an article already covering it, particularly when there isn't much of a rush to get stuff updated. -- <span style="color:#ff3399;">OliviaWolfie</span> <span style="color:#b300ff;font-size:70%;">(She/her)</span> (talk) 16:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC) |

:::@OliviaWolfie: thanks, it sounds like draftifying (rather than deleting) was the right move, then, which is good to know. |
|||
:::If it's any consolation (probably not!), I used to come across a similar problem all the time, when translating articles from the Finnish or Swedish Wikipedias. The English-language one has stricter notability and referencing requirements than any of the others (that I'm aware of at least), and often the referencing in the original simply wasn't good enough. So much so that now, the first thing I do is check if the sources are good enough to establish notability here, and if they aren't, whether I can find better ones. If not, I simply drop it and move on to something else. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:17, 27 October 2023 (UTC) |

Hi Significa liberdade! I saw you removed the history section from the Avant (train) article as copied from the page: https://cloudflare-ipfs.com/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/AVE.html implying that this crates a copyright violation issue. Then Nthep hided all relative history of this article regarding this section. I think there is a misunderstanding here and I personally do not see any copyright problem with this section. The page you are referring to is a copy of an old version of the AVE Wikipedia article from 11/3/2016. This article has been changed since then with many sections of it to be moved to other more specific Wikipedia articles. The Avant (train) is one of those articles, a new Wikipedia page that now describes in detail what was previously part of the AVE article. The Avant service is in fact a different high-speed rail service from the AVE service and therefore the part of the history section that is related to the Avant service has to be moved to the dedicated Avant article in a new history section. There is no copyright violation since the source of this information is Wikipedia itself along with the corresponding citations. Hey there. I'm really appreciating your attitude toward blocked users; it counters a lot of the kneejerk harshness that often comes to those of us who have been working the :CAT:RFU for a long time. What I try to do periodically is focus on finding a reason to accept unblock requests rather than finding reasons to decline them. It's gratifying when it works. I've had one or two come back to bite me over the years, but if you see me accepting a request with "I'm assuming good faith and unblocking", that's what's gone on. |

Template you might find useful
[edit]Meant to show this to you a few days ago, but I saw this edit[1] and figured you'd fid the Creative Commons text attribution notice template useful. If you add it through the insert template tool, there's a nice drop down window of all the compatible license options. Hope this helps! GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 08:06, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, GreenLipstickLesbian!! Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:07, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- I was going to make some comment about how either of the text attribution notices we added should have tripped a message in Earwig letting the reviewer know that the article claimed to be from a compatibly licensed source, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Hmmm. For an example of what I'm talking about, Template:Source-attribution trips a warning when you use Earwig on the Dick Cheney article. I think this might be an issue with draftspace though, because the Template:PD-notice using Draft:Rocky Reach AVA doesn't show a message either.
- Sorry to bother you @Chlod, but have I a) guessed what's going on and b) is this intentional? I could have sworn Earwig used to pick up these templates in draft space. Have I lost my mind? GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 00:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm answering my own questions here.Template:CCBYSASource doesn't trip the Earwig warning, even in mainspace. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 00:49, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, @GreenLipstickLesbian! Can you let me know if I used the CC template appropriately at Failures of water supply and sanitation systems? I'd really appreciate your feedback. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:28, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that looks perfect! If that's the case, then if I disappear you know which cabal is after me!) GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 01:42, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- GreenLipstickLesbian: I decided to use the template inside the ref for Draft:Moneca Delain. We'll see if the MOS ghouls arise. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 22:59, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Two days after the full moon, and on a draft where the URL ends in a consonant? MOS ghouls rn: 👻 👻 👻 Slightly more seriously, I'm actually impressed that somebody's importing not terrible fandom content into Wikipedia. I'm not seeing notability, but that's not a crime and it's not a bad attempt. Hopefully they'll learn the copyright rules and stick around. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 02:43, 18 December 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, @GreenLipstickLesbian! :) Chlod (say hi!) 02:53, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you, R3T8V2W7! Unfortunately, this draft article is still not ready to be published for two main reasons:
- There is not enough information about the organization in the article to provide sufficient context and understanding of the topic. At present, the article seems to focus on Mohamad Al-Mail, not the organization.
- Because the organization appears to be related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, broadly construed, you are not permitted to edit the article. Wikipedia considers the Arab-Israeli conflict to be a contentious topic, and only extended-confirmed editors may edit pages related to the conflict. As such, I recommend refraining from editing that page until your account is at least 30 days old and you have made more than 500 edits.

I'm "aware" of the contentious topic, so I think I know what you meant. But I have seen a red link in other similar edit summaries, I don't know if they were also you.
I also wanted to see the discussion about it. Is that what the red link was supposed to direct to? I don't object, I only wanted to read it.
Tag me please if you reply here, but an answer on the talk page for that page might be better, for anyone else who sees the red link in the history and wants to know more.

- Hi, @Industrial Metal Brain! Typically, we do not preemptively protect a page (i.e., protect before any vandalism has occurred); the one caveat is that if an administrator notices a page that falls under WP:ECR, it is acceptable to preemptively protect due to standing arbitration. - (talk page stalker) @Veno 258 Hi there. Whatever the article is, yes, inline citations would be great. It would help reviewers to verify the contents of the page, so do add them. See here for guide. Happy editing, Vanderwaalforces (talk) 06:20, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

- Hi there! Are you asking if you can use parenthetical citations, such as those used in APA or MLA format? If so, the community has agreed that parenthetical citations should not be used in new articles (see WP:PAREN). Instead, you should use Wikipedia's in-text citation style. For information about referencing on Wikipedia, you can check out "Referencing for Beginners". Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 15:23, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Barnstar of Good Humor | |
Hello, Significa liberdade,
You became an admin rather recently and if you actually jump into carrying out admin duties and responsibilities, you're going to receive a lot of feedback. This is natural since most of our existing admin corps became admins 5-15 years ago and some actions and decisions which are second nature to them you have to work to gradually acquire. Significa, the care and the tact with which you approached your tumultuous RfA is a testament to your personality, and I continue to have full confidence in your abilities. We are both learning, and I am glad that we are on the learning journey together. I hope your PhD is coming along nicely and you are finding Wikipedia to be a nice escape from working on gestures at all the stuff required for a PhD. And your kindness, whether it is showing newbies the ropes, or responding to ADMINACCT stuff, or patrolling CAT:RFU, is sincerely appreciated :) Wishing the best to you and yours in the new year, and happy holidays! Editing & Confused
[edit]Thank-you so much for your quick feedback regarding my article attempt! DeborahAfrica (talk) 16:12, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, DeborahAfrica, and thanks for reaching out! Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:48, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
Article Denied
[edit]- Hi Significa liberdade! Thank you so much for the message. I thought I wrote the article in a neutral tone based on the articles that I used to support the statements. Would it be possible to share one example of what I did wrong? Thank you again for your help! I would also love for you to review my draft again before submission. Huffyman2007 (talk) 06:36, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi there, Huffyman2007, and thank you for reaching out! Before I provide any specific guidance, can you tell me if you have a conflict of interest with Garret Huffman? On Wikipedia, a conflict of interest can arise whenever you edit articles "about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships" (see WP:COI).
- Regardless, whenever you're writing a Wikipedia article, you want to make sure the article has an encyclopedic tone.
- I hope that makes sense! Writing in an encyclopedic tone is incredibly difficult, and it takes practice to learn! For examples of well-written articles, I recommend checking out those designated as Good Articles. A list of Good Articles about musicians can be found here. Let me know if you have further questions. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:38, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
The superfamily Cyclopygoidea encompasses more families than just Cyclopygidae. So that is why I don't accept the rejection reason as valid, although I might try to improve it so it gets accepted next time.
Abdullah raji (talk) 10:23, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know, Abdullah raji! Based on the sources provided, I thought there may have been a spelling error since neither mentioned Cyclopygoidea (with an 'O') but both mentioned Cyclopygidae (without the 'O'). Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:59, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Review on the submission untitled "Quantum phase space approach"
[edit]Hello, thank you for the review on the submission untitled "Quantum phase space approach" . However , I don't understand why you declined it because the sources that are used as references are peer reviewed high quality scientific journals ? Rshon13 : all of the contents are based on these "peer reviewed" sources. (talk) 06:04, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Rshon13! :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:42, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

Question
[edit]Hi! You denied submission of a draft had been working on, I was awondering if you could help leave a better, descriptive reason as to what I need to change to get it to publishing status?
My draft is Draft:Societas Classica Academiae Pinkertoniae Aperson118 (talk) 02:50, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Aperson118, and thank you for reaching out!
- I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions, comments, and/or concerns. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:00, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!
[edit]Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup!
The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Administrators' newsletter – January 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2024).
- Following an RFC, Wikipedia:Notability (species) was adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether admins should be advised to warn users rather than issue no-warning blocks to those who have posted promotional content outside of article space.
- The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
- Following the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: CaptainEek, Daniel, Elli, KrakatoaKatie, Liz, Primefac, ScottishFinnishRadish, Theleekycauldron, Worm That Turned.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in January 2025 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles and redirects in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!
Appreciation
[edit]Hey there. I'm really appreciating your attitude toward blocked users; it counters a lot of the kneejerk harshness that often comes to those of us who have been working the CAT:RFU for a long time. What I try to do periodically is focus on finding a reason to accept unblock requests rather than finding reasons to decline them. It's gratifying when it works. I've had one or two come back to bite me over the years, but if you see me accepting a request with "I'm assuming good faith and unblocking", that's what's gone on.
Thanks for being here to keep us old-timers honest. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 02:59, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

I think we may have a CIR situation on our hands here. We both tried to give them a chance to clarify their meaning, and it is still clear as mud. I see Chaotic Enby is taking a swing at it, but I think a decline may be in order if they again fail to show an understanding of why they were blocked.
