Both "right of way" & "right-of-way" are '''formal''' terms used in legislation; they have a recognized legal meaning & are not "informal" terminology. For example, Colorado statute ยง 42-4-703, explicitly uses "yield the right-of-way" to refer to traffic priority. "Traffic priority" is actually the more informal term, as it does not appear in relevant legal texts. Sign: Yield to military traffic

The sign labelled "Yield to military traffic" is actually a directional road sign for tanks. The give way sign on top is not related to the military sign below. Additional signs would be white and without arrow on the side (and also otherwise would look different). It seems that another picture might be better here...
