:The alleged copyvio content I took from the edit of The Education of Max Bickford as of May 29, 2008, at 22:30. I don't know why the robot didn't flag it back then when it was in that article, and I don't care. I'll just quickly rewrite the article (mostly a hack job, to be honest) and hopefully through cumulative edits by other people, all the info will get added back in without merely copying from that source. ==Orphaned non-free media (Image:DamesBoisBoulogne.png)==
I know where but its much easier to just upload a photo.
Thanks for uploading :Image:DamesBoisBoulogne.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.<!-- Template:Orphaned --> BJBot (talk) 05:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I have nominated List of Peter Griffin's jobs, an article you created, for deletion. ==Speedy deletion of :Road to Germany==
:Thank you for the barnstar. Perhaps for future awardees, we could design a TV Barnstar. Maybe the regular barnstar with a circular 50s TV design in the center. Cromulent Kwyjibo 17:21, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on :Road to Germany, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>hangon</code> to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. <!-- Template:Db-repost-notice --> <!-- Template:Db-csd-notice-custom --> - Icewedge (talk) 21:18, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

:Is the blog entry from a viewer of the show or is it from a producer of the show? Cromulent Kwyjibo 23:52, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

If I assume that post was a request to understand Wikipedia's sourcing, hopefully this will help you.
The episodes director, Zac Moncrief, Road to Rupert was announced by director Dan Povenmire. I wasnt asking for the article not to be deleted i was just making sure the page wasnt locked in case it needs recreating in future. And no the site doesnt appear to be hosted on the familyguy.com server its at sethmacfarlane.org but the fact that it uses a subdomain of familyguy.com means they have permission from fox and fox are willing to associate the blog with the official site.Discordance 01:19, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Two good places to start looking for reliable sourced material are books.google.com and news.google.com
Most of the hits you find in either of those searches will be to places that meet our requirments for material and analysis that has been published by a third party and had editorial oversight / a reputation for fact checking.

Some exceptions: Letters to the editor will not be reliable sources (exception to the exception: unless by a noted expert in the appropriate field - i.e. Colin Powell talking about the US military or international relations). And Self published books by vanity presses are not valid sourcs either.
Redlinks
Please do not delete redlinks such as the redlink you deleted from Cote de Pablo. Redlinks are perfectly acceptable under Wikipedia policy as they are signals that articles are missing and need to be written. Although a case can be made that wikilinking obscure names is unnecessary, a television series title is fine to leave as a wikilink, especially since there is a WikiProject underway to create articles on these series. There is no onus placed on the person adding the redlink to create the article in question, though on many occasions they will do just that. 23skidoo 23:37, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Blogs, forum posts and personal web pages do not have a reputation for fact checking or editorial board oversight and will not be considered reliable sources.
:Whatever. Cromulent Kwyjibo 21:33, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Sibling Rivalry
:I think you may be misunderstanding primary source. In the case of the particular article where we have been colliding, a primary source is the episode itself. A book about The Family Guy, or an article about The Road To Germany is a secondary source and the kind of sources that should be used most often in Wikipedia articles. However the comments in either the book or the article must be about the specific episode that the article is about. If the book talks about anti-semetic trends in Family Guy episodes, but was published BEFORE the Road to Germany aired, we cannot use that as a reference in the Road to Germany article because the book was not and could not have been referring to that episode and so we would be making that assertion/connection and that would be WP:SYN - taking information that a source wrote about "event A" and saying that it also applies to "event B". -- <span style="color:red;font-size:medium;;font-family:Monotype Corsiva;">The Red Pen of Doom</span> 23:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

After investigating a report at
Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/PrimeFan, I have come to the conclusion that this account, along with a large number of other accounts, are all being operated by the same person as abusive sockpuppets. Operating multiple accounts is not permitted when they are used to edit the same articles and debates. However, due to the nature of the IP addresses involved, it is possible that some of these users have coincidentally shared a computer or IP address. If this is the case, you may request to be unblocked by emailing the blocking admin or the unblock mailing list with your official University email address. This is to prevent one person from spoofing the admins with multiple free throwaway email accounts such as gmail or yahoomail. (Your email address will not be stored or used other than for verification.) If this is a misunderstanding I apologize in advance, and your account will be unblocked as soon as you provide proof that you are a separate individual. Be advised two checkusers examined this case and agreed on the results.<span style="font-family:Verdana,sans-serif"> — <b style="color:#060;"><i>R</i>levse</b> • <span style="color:#990;">Talk</span> • </span> 03:02, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:
It's A7, no assertion of notability. Being a porn star doesn't merit an article, unless they are a particularly significant porn star, and the writing indicates this is a fairly low key porn star, hence not notable. The Lynne Stopkewich article has a small indication of notability that she is particularly known for something, though this may not be enough in itself to keep the article. == Ada Dietz ==

I think you've got Ada Dietz all wrong. She's not a "math crank", she's a former math teacher who developed a weaving pattern based on the binomial expansion. She is regarded today by weavers, for the creativity of her designs, and by certain math professors and others interested in the marriage of art and mathematics. I think that you mistakenly afd'd her because her stub was categorized as a "mathematician", a title which she clearly doesn't deserve.

Anyhow, I reworked her article to make it clear that she's a weaver, not a math crank. I'll leave it to you whether to reconsider the afd. Irene Ringworm 04:37, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Grace McKeaney, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.filmmakers.com/contests/2007/win/interviews/mckeaney_holaway.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The alleged copyvio content I took from the edit of The Education of Max Bickford as of May 29, 2008, at 22:30. I don't know why the robot didn't flag it back then when it was in that article, and I don't care. I'll just quickly rewrite the article (mostly a hack job, to be honest) and hopefully through cumulative edits by other people, all the info will get added back in without merely copying from that source. Orphaned non-free media (Image:DamesBoisBoulogne.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DamesBoisBoulogne.png.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of Peter Griffin's jobs

[edit]

I have nominated List of Peter Griffin's jobs, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Peter Griffin's jobs (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Speedy deletion of Road to Germany

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Road to Germany, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Icewedge (talk) 21:18, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you think the AfD's, both of them, were in error please contest that decision at WP:DRV instead of reposing to the mainspace claiming the AfD's were invalid. - Icewedge (talk) 21:20, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable Souces

[edit]

If I assume that post was a request to understand Wikipedia's sourcing, hopefully this will help you. Two good places to start looking for reliable sourced material are books.google.com and news.google.com Most of the hits you find in either of those searches will be to places that meet our requirments for material and analysis that has been published by a third party and had editorial oversight / a reputation for fact checking.

Some exceptions: Letters to the editor will not be reliable sources (exception to the exception: unless by a noted expert in the appropriate field - i.e. Colin Powell talking about the US military or international relations). And Self published books by vanity presses are not valid sourcs either.

Blogs, forum posts and personal web pages do not have a reputation for fact checking or editorial board oversight and will not be considered reliable sources.

Very simple outline I think. but if you still have questions, feel free to ask. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:18, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may be misunderstanding primary source. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

After investigating a report at Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/PrimeFan, I have come to the conclusion that this account, along with a large number of other accounts, are all being operated by the same person as abusive sockpuppets. Be advised two checkusers examined this case and agreed on the results.RlevseTalk 03:02, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Cromulent Kwyjibo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 8 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the article:
