Should the article mention the last time each team has won the championship? Also thinking that it should mention how many times they have made it to a final ever since. It would also be useful to know how many times each team has won the championship. BoleroGoleador (talk) 05:18, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi Broccoli and Coffee I have to say I'm a little surprised and disappointed by your revert here.... What benefit is that section adding to the article, given that every single detail of that table, including dates and scorelines, is available and very easy to find by readers in the section immediately below?

You gave the reason of "precedent - previous NBA Finals pages", but that doesn't seem to be very relevant to me... WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, and assuming it was a good edit to have made here, it would be sensible to go through and make the same change on other finals pages.

My question to you would be if you think there's any benefit to readers in reinstating that box, other than just pointless bloat... and if you agree there is little benefit to it, then please could you self-revert your change? Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 18:33, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

:Amakuru Respectfully, I don't think WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS really applies here. In this case, and in similar articles that cover a repeating set of events (e.g., each Super Bowl article, each Academy Awards ceremony, etc.), I believe the preference is to keep the articles relatively uniform. From what I can tell, most or all other NBA Finals articles have this section. OTHERSTUFF does not really apply here (and believe me, this is an argument I do tend to agree with in most circumstances).
:I do think this section has some value. It's why similar sections also exist not just for the NBA Finals, but also the World Series (e.g., 2004 World Series). In those articles, the summaries also include game time and attendance, which the NBA ones do not.
:That said, this is not a hill I wish to die on. I'm open to hearing arguments for removal or enhancement of these sections. My preference is just to keep these consistent across each edition, as this makes the articles feel more encyclopedic. – <span style="color:#070">Broccoli</span> &#38; <span style="color: brown">Coffee</span> (Oh hai) 18:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

Should the article mention the last time each team has won the championship? Also thinking that it should mention how many times they have made it to a final ever since. Hi @Broccoli and Coffee: I have to say I'm a little surprised and disappointed by your revert here....

Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 18:33, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Amakuru: Respectfully, I don't think WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS really applies here.
I do think this section has some value. It's why similar sections also exist not just for the NBA Finals, but also the World Series (e.g., 2004 World Series). In those articles, the summaries also include game time and attendance, which the NBA ones do not.
That said, this is not a hill I wish to die on. I'm open to hearing arguments for removal or enhancement of these sections. My preference is just to keep these consistent across each edition, as this makes the articles feel more encyclopedic. – Broccoli & Coffee (Oh hai) 18:55, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
