La educación básica en Acapulco antes de los grandes desarrollos turísticos de los años ochentas sufría una inadecuada relación entre los contenidos académicos y las necesidades educativas y culturales requeridas para un auge turístico sin precedentes en México. En la mitad de la década de los ochenta con los importantes proyectos de inversión y la Autopista del Sol. Acapulco requería un nuevo modelo educativo que respondiera a las demandas académicas de estudiantes locales y extranjeros de este nuevo puerto. La vocación turística de la sociedad acapulqueña, así como las nuevas familias de mexicanos y extranjeros que se incorporaron para contribuir al desarrollo del nuevo Acapulco, exigían un colegio con un currículo bilingüe de alta calidad académica. Además de los cambios socio económicos, estaba la calidad ambiental del entorno ecológico y pero sobre todo la salud de la bahía de Santa Lucia, este aspecto fundamental para el desarrollo sustentable de la ciudad, requirió ( por primera vez en un puerto turístico en México) el diseño de un programa de educación ambiental con énfasis en el ecosistema marino. Para todos estos nuevos contenidos en los programas se contó con la colaboración de El Colegio Olinca de la ciudad de México, El Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del IPN y La Universidad de California en Berkeley. |

Para septiembre de 1987 se inauguró el Colegio Nautilus gracias al gran apoyo de distinguidos empresarios locales convocados por el patronato del colegio. A principios de los años noventa el colegio había logrado certificar sus programas de ingles, educación ambiental y ser el primer colegio en el puerto con un salón multimedia computarizado. En este rubro de tecnologías educativas, el colegio a mantenido el liderazgo en materia de cultura computacional hasta lograr el servicio a los padres de ver a sus hijos trabajar en el aula vía Internet. |

Through the partnership with Apple, Microsoft, the school was able to develop technological abilities in their students, using the most advanced tools and methodologies. The classrooms are equipped with different technological equipments, like Apple's iPad Mobile Labs in each classroom, helping teachers give a more dynamic class having a mayor impact on the students. |
