The name ''Abomasnow'' is derived from ''abominable'', referring to the [[Abominable Snowman]], and ''snow''. Its Japanese name is likely a [[portmanteau]] of the Japanese word for {{nihongo|''snow''|雪|yuki}}; {{nihongo|''no''|の}}, a possessive particle; and the Japanese word for {{nihongo|''king''|王|ō}}. Abomasnow appears to be a mix of a large [[yeti]] and a [[pine tree]]. Its paws and legs are green in color and it has white fur. Its body is round, but its head is quite strange, with two eyes hidden; its fur actually appears to be [[pine]] needles, which along with its type seem to imply it is a mobile [[evergreen]] covered in snow.
