A Raider Like Indiana (talk · contribs) - For me, Wikipedia is not just an encyclopedia. But a window to the world. I have been a editor here on the English Wikipedia since March 3, 2007. But been editing under my static IP address (69.220.124.118) since late 2004/ 2005, and since then I learned all there is to know about Wikipedia. Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. You may wish to answer the following optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?

A: The most common tool that I use. WP:TW. Twinkle will give me some advantage to continue to support Wikipedia and edit pages using my administrator tools, if necessary, and-or protect or delete a page. Of my my fond attentions is to help out with the Articles for deletion page. When I joined, one of the first thing that I did is help out with the articles for deletion page. Whether it was spam, self-promoting I helped out and voted. "Delete" was my common most use vote-of-choice, but however I did say strong keep in some pages here or there. I will wash away any trace of spam or vandalism that I come across in the deletion page and continue to vote and support. One other area that I most admire is the protection request page. I, myself is a "veteran" at that Wikipedia page because I normally use it at a time in need. I will warn users when they vandalize or continue to disrupt peace in Wikipedia or block them for their intentions. Seeing their IP address and detect whether it static or dynamic and if they have a record of numerous of complaints and warnings in Wikipedia. This could prove that the vandalizer should deserve a blocking at the time I see it. The protection page will then lead me to the Category:All_images_with_no_fair_use_rationale. I had some images in the past that got promoted and deleted. I will take the liberty and help out. Also, me joining the removal of the trivia sections in articles early last month was a gift of my own. So far I integrated and-or deleted unsourced trivia sections from 50 articles. Reverting and catching vandalizers is another goal I have towards me being a admin here on Wikipedia. I intend to be apart of warning and blocking any one that creates disputes on talk pages or articles. And revert any vandalism that I come across. I normally use my Anti-Vandal tool to catch these non registered or registered users and rollback their edits. I try to resolve disputes that I see. And if they do not cooperate, I will personally block them for a matter of hours, if not days. But rest to sure, I will remain civilized and respect fellow Wikipedians.

For me, I am most common with half of the administrative tools Wikipedia has to offer. I will help out and use my title "sysop".

2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?

A: They're are far to many to list. But one of my favorite edits that I did was helping out and editing the Star Wars-related pages. Sine I joined, that was one of the places I went to edit. I expanded some of the articles and cleaned up when ever I see spam/vandalism that a user once did. Also, being able to help promote Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope page to a featured article on May 25, 2007 (30 years of Star Wars); was one of my greatest accomplishments that I still, as of today, admire. Also being about to promote the Fergie-related articles. User:Acalamari has given me a barn star for my efforts in editing those pages few months ago. And I still carry on with my work and clean up anything that I see wrong. Unsourced statements, rational quotes, and templates are a few of my specialties. I take great care of these pages that I edit and put a template when it needs it and see if it has a trivia section or not. Microsoft and Microsoft Windows related articles are another places I go to contribute. I put all of my hard work hours, when I am available, to help promote these articles. My extensive knowledge of Windows is my weapon to edit these pages and correct them so no conflicts can occur. Low traffic articles, such as my local town article I edit to exceed this article to meet the standards of Wikipedia articles. High quality is what I aim for when I edit articles.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

A: Commonly, I don't get into disputes. But I have a couple of times few months ago. A edit conflict as erupt. In the article of Hot Chocolate. Their were these non registered users who vandalized this page completely. I mean it was terrible. 4 other users, including my self raced to revert these edits. But the edit conflict just got worse. Whenever I tried to clean up their act, they revert me and kept on pushing me. However, I kept myself under control. I was not alarmed and wasn't mad. I simply let them have a blast destroying that page. Soon after 10 minutes they left. I quickly reverted their edits and requested that page to be semi-protected and the IP addresses blocked. I remained civilized and wrote to them in their discussion pages on their highly noticeable act they just did in that article. I know now, what I did to make them stop worked. Getting into "Edit Conflicts" and disputes with any user is not right or civilized. I don't continue to push myself into these situations were I cannot get myself out of, especially reverting heavy vandalism in disputes.

2. Support I agree with what Matt/TheFearow said. This RfA is unlikely to succed unfortunately, but if you read up more on administrators, get a better understanding of policy, and get a couple of thousand more edits to avoid editcount opposition, your next RfA should be successful. 1. Oppose Lack of experience in admin-related tasks as well as main space contributions. Try again towards the end of the year when you can demonstrate a wider grasp of contributing towards the project. 2. You're doing well, but I don't think you have enough experience in some of the areas you want to handle (such as blocks and deletions). To wit, you've participated in two AFDs and made two AIV reports (and one of those reports no one would have blocked for). I suggest getting some experience in those areas, such as counter-vandalism and deletion discussion, that you've expressed an interest in and then re-apply in a few months.--Chaser - T 02:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

6. Oppose To say it really simple, you lack experience. You have 750 edits, and been here for 4 months. Out of that, only 34 of them are in the project mainspace. Also, your answer to Q1 didn't actually let us understand why you need the tools. I suggest you withdraw, and try again in a couple of months. 9. weak oppose - sorry, but I feel the need to oppose here. Only around since march, and less than my uhhh....'flagpost' 1k edits. I know that seems editcounting, but I dont feel comfortable supporting someone when so little can be told from then because they have few edits. 4. Moral Neutral. I would love to vote for you, but much as I hate editcountitis, we honestly have not seen enough to judge what you would be like in the role. Spend your time building your "CV", work with WikiProjects, make positive edits and contributions, and look for some subjects within your field of knowledge you can write about intelligently, research and write carefully in line with Wikipedia policies and above all show good faith to everyone you deal with, and you'll be a shoo-in at a later stage. 5. Neutral – leaning oppose: I just don't see somebody who will use the tools in you. You mention you got involved in AfD when you first joined - I'd encourage you to restart your contributions there - and, perhaps, in the other XfDs (e.g., Templates for Deletion, Miscellany, etc...) and even try your hand at closing them, once you've built up the necessary experience. Also, some participation at WP:ANI/WP:AN would demonstrate to the community that you can think and advise like an Administrator. For the moment, however, I can't support your nomination, and if weren't for the large amount of (pile-on) opposes already, I'd be putting my comment there ~ Anthøny 08:51, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
