Burmy's name is derived from its inspiration, the bagworm. Like its real-life counterpart, Burmy produces a sticky substance that it uses to bind nearby debris to its worm-like body as protection and camouflage. This unique property causes it to change shape after a battle, although its type, stats, and moves are unchanged. After a battle in a natural setting, such as tall grass, it cloaks itself in leaves and twigs, giving itself a bush-like appearance. After a battle in a cave or desert, it surrounds itself in dust and pebbles, yielding a dust ball-like appearance. After a battle in a building, it envelops itself in a discarded plastic bag and bits of wire, appearing to be a pink puff with two arm-like wires. The different forms are known as 'cloaks'. |
