Adam-X and Vulcan - hints?

How does Vulcan "not fit the hint which started the (Third summers Brother) plot"? Sinister (in 1993s X-Men (2nd Series) #23) told Scott he was concerned for "his brothers" -- plural, indicating he knew Scott had more than one brother [1]. Vulcan is Scott's brother, so how does he not fit Sinister's/Nicieza's cryptic words? Dr Archeville 02:23, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

There's still Adam X the X-Treme out of there, the implied son of D'Ken and Scott's mother. And at the moment in which Sinister said that, Vulcan was unconscious under Krakoa. DrTofu83 22:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

• Just b/c Vulcan was unconscious under Krakoa at the time doesn't mean Sinister couldn't have been referring to him -- Sinister's followed the Summer line with uncanny devotion, it's quite probable he knew Vulcan's mother was pregnant with him when she & "Corsair" were taken by the Shi'Ar, and he probably did know/sense when Vulcan came back to Earth. Cut out

Hank McCoy, the Beast shares his concern about the sudden massive shift in energy from the events of the House of M with Cyclops, citing the Law of Conservation of Energy: that is, energy can neither be created or destroyed, only change forms. What happened to all of the bioenergy from the depowered mutants is a mystery; renowned biophysicist Hank Pym has also voiced his concern.

Meanwhile in space, the remains of a spacecraft called Prospect drift helplessly, until a massive flux of energy occurs, bringing to life a disoriented male, who uses a form of psychometric retrocognition to reveal that the spacecraft and its operators were destroyed by some form of brilliant green energy.

Back on Earth, Emma Frost suddenly picks up a massive mutant power signature, deeming it "omega level at least." As her mind is overloaded by the power, she uses her abilities to show Kitty Pryde what she is seeing: the destroyed shuttle Prospect, rocketing toward upstate New York, more than likely being held together by the mysterious mutant signature, a form of psychokinesis.

Kitty rushes to Cyclops and tells him what happened. Cyclops assembles a small team: himself, Wolverine and Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers) to investigate the crash site before the government can. They evade the Sentinel guard and race off toward the crash site. In upstate New York, Cyclops, Wolverine and Marvel Girl reach the crash site and find the Prospect smoldering in the grip of a giant hand, made out of the Earth. Upon landing, the three find a cave and venture in, seeing a decomposing body of Jean Grey, Rachel's surrogate mother and Cyclops' dead wife. Rachel charges after the vision while Wolverine remarks "that ain't Jeanie." As they follow Rachel into the cave, Wolverine and Cyclops come face to face with the Omega-Level mutant, holding the unconscious Marvel Girl by the neck. Wolverine attacks the mystery mutant and is manhandled, thrown via telekinesis into Cyclops. Cyclops uses his optic blast, but the beam is redirected back toward the two and Wolverine catches the full brunt of the blast. The mystery mutant seemingly uses some pyrokinesis to burn Wolverine's body, and walks toward Marvel Girl, commenting that it's "not any Marvel Girl I've ever heard of." Cyclops tries to protect her, and the man says "Ah, Scott, at least you haven't changed." Cyclops clearly does not know who the man is, and the man takes pleasure in that. He carries Wolverine's body outside, where the Office of National Emergency later finds Wolverine's badly burned body, showing up with helicopters and Sentinels.

At the mansion, Kitty tries to recompose herself after the ordeal. While washing her face, she looks into the mirror to see her lover Colossus dead and decomposing. She screams, turns around quickly, and sees that Colossus is fine: healthy and alive. Kurt Wagner, Nightcrawler takes a walk through the woods on the mansion grounds, when he stumbles upon the same murderous mob Professor Xavier saved him from years ago in Germany. Kurt performs a series of teleports to try to evade them, but ultimately cannot escape, and runs toward the mansion. He trips and falls and when he looks back, the mob is gone, as if they were never there.

Meanwhile, Banshee, while searching through his former lover Moira MacTaggert's files for some clue as to Xavier's whereabouts, sees standing in the rain the form of Moira. Spooked, he runs outside and chases her into a cabin he has never seen before. Inside the cabin room is a computer containing a file marked "Charles Xavier's Notes: Important." Upon viewing the notes, he is surprised to find a video of Moira saying to herself "you need to remember what a total and utter bastard Charles Xavier is."

Later, after the O.N.E. has taken Wolverine into custody, Kitty Pryde and the Beast show up to lend support to their teammates, but cannot get anywhere with the government, who have Wolverine in custody and will not release him, thinking him responsible for the shuttle crash. Kitty, frustrated, remarks it is time for Plan B, and has Emma Frost, sitting aboard the Blackbird manipulate the soldiers into releasing Wolverine. At the mansion, they attempt to use Cerebra to locate Cyclops and Marvel Girl, to no avail. Havok, Cyclops' younger brother, walks out of Cerebra in frustration and almost instantly is plagued by visions of Polaris (his one-time girlfriend and fiancee) and Iceman making plans to be with each other behind his back. Both are in earlier versions of their costumes, seemingly indicating that this is a repressed nightmare, the same way all of the hallucinations have thus far been.

Now moved from the cave, the mystery mutant has both Cyclops and Marvel Girl hung onto giant horizontal pneumatic presses, both of their mutant abilities neutralized. Marvel Girl's comments that she can feel the Professor's mental shadow in the cave, that clearly he had been there before, but a long while before. "A jumble of pride, and fear, and theory," she says. "He used this place for something." Cyclops disagrees, saying he has no idea where they are, when the mystery mutant enters and remarks that he does know, he just doesn't realize he's down there. "I've seen you upstairs," he says, "you and your little friends. I was just watching you." The mystery mutant comments that Cyclops is chained to the wall as punishment for his own crimes, and to witness somebody else's, which is why Marvel Girl is here, and "not dead like your friend with the claws." Scott comments a moment later to Marvel Girl that "He thinks he killed Wolverine, which means he's got no idea who he is... but he knows me?"

Meanwhile, Banshee has boarded an international flight to New York, with the intent of hand delivering Moira's file to the X-Men. He is talking on the phone to Nightcrawler, giving his flight details. Meanwhile, the mystery mutant listens in, apparently sitting in the cockpit of the Blackbird.

Hours later, Nightcrawler and Wolverine leave the mansion to pick Banshee up from the airport, and discuss all of the weird occurrences on the way. When they get to the airport, they see the Blackbird suddenly and inexplicably bearing down on Banshee's flight. Banshee exits his airplane, hoping to use his sonic scream to disable and stop the Blackbird while saving somewhere around the area of 100 lives of the passengers on board. His attempt fails, and he looks horrified as the Blackbird runs into him and the approaching airliner, and promptly explodes as Nightcrawler and Wolverine look on in shock.

After strategically avoiding government guards, Nightcrawler and Wolverine are able to make their way into the wreakage. They find the hull of the Blackbird with Banshee's body mangled inside, having gone through the windshield. They find the briefcase Banshee was carrying with the file inside. They bring it back to the Mansion and Beast is able to salvage most of the tape on file. He and the others are shocked as Moira MacTaggert recounts Professor Xavier's request to train her students in order to become a rescue team for the missing original X-Men.

Elsewhere, Cyclops and Marvel Girl learn more about where they are captive, and the place seems familiar. The mystery mutant reveals himself as Vulcan, the never-before-seen brother of Scott and Alex Summers (Cyclops and Havok). He tells them that he was a former X-Men trainee, that he was part of the original team sent to rescue to X-Men from Krakoa the Living Island, and that Professor Xavier left them to die.

The Office of National Emergency discover Vulcan was watching the airport disaster where Banshee was killed. They realize with the energy Vulcan is giving off, they can trace him and dispatch a Sentinel to track him down. Meanwhile, Vulcan taunts Cyclops and quickly dispatches the Sentinel when it arrives. Whilst Vulcan takes down the Sentinel, Cyclops orders Marvel Girl to escape. Horrified as he watches Vulcan kill the Sentinel pilot, Cyclops leaps for Vulcan. Vulcan catches him mid-air and flies away with him, telling him that Marvel Girl's escape was all part of his plan to find Professor X.

Meanwhile in Wales, a shadowy figure sees Vulcan on the news, pays his bartab and leaves telling the barman to keep the change as it's likely he won't be needing it.

Marvel Girl arrives at the mansion to find the X-Men deliberating their next move, and tells the team that she knows where Vulcan is taking Cyclops... Muir Island. Cyclops tells Vulcan that they've been looking for Professor X for weeks - does he not think they've searched Muir Island? Cyclops is angry when he discovers Vulcan's part in Banshee's death, telling him how with the disrespect for life he shows, he could never be an X-Man, and could never be his brother. Vulcan responds - telling Cyclops of his early life. Cyclops doesn't believe him and can't fathom why the Professor would make him forget his third brother, whilst over his shoulder, the shadowy figure reveals himself. It is Professor Charles Xavier, who it seems has regained use of his legs after the events of House of M.

The remaining X-Men arrive in the Blackbird and Vulcan takes down Wolverine and Nightcrawler before they can reach him, and turns on the Professor. He demands that Xavier tell the X-Men the truth, not by speaking, but by projecting it psychically as he did for him. Unfortunately, Xavier cannot meet Vulcan's demands, because he has lost his powers of telepathy, becoming a mainstream Homo sapiens.

He then used Marvel Girl to interface with Charles Xavier's mind and route all of his memories to the other X-Men so that they would know everything that had happened. In fact, on Krakoa, Cyclops didn't escape as a bait set to the living island to lure the "All New-All Different X-Men" and nourishing of their energies. He escaped because Vulcan ordered his followers to set him free. He then proceeded to tell Cyclops the truth about his origins. He was, indeed, the third lost Summers brother. Cyclops, at first, believed him. In the present, an enraged Havok notes that Vulcan is too old to be their younger sibling, forcing Xavier to explain. When Christopher Summers (later known as Corsair) and his wife were abducted and captured by D'Ken, Corsair tried killing him in self defense. For revenge, D'Ken killed his pregnant wife, apparently killing their unborn son. In fact he ordered to put his body in an incubation-accelerator, used to breed new slaves, aging him till to the prime adolescence. He was sent to Earth as a slave for Davan Shakari, the Emperor's hand on Earth, but he escaped and was discovered by Moira McTaggart. Hoping to calm his recent sorrow, Xavier asked Marvel Girl to enter his mind for the rest of the tale on Krakoa. With Cyclops in Xavier Mansion, Vulcan's team arrived on Krakoa, who, thinking of them as menaces, killed Sway and Petra, leaving Vulcan and Darwin greatly weakened. Xavier calmed Cyclops with his powers, suppressed the memories of the almost certain death of his younger brother, and used Cerebro to investigate, discovering Sway and Petra's deaths. Moira McTaggart, enraged, left Xavier Mansion, expressing sorrow for Cyclops's loss. At that point Xavier informed her, and the X-Men present during his tale, of his decision to make Cyclops forget. He then used his powers, enhanced by Cerebro, to let the X-Men, old and new, think that Krakoa was an intelligent being, while in fact it was only a collection of impulses. Vulcan, however, managed to survive... with her last breath, Petra dug a hole in which Vulcan and Darwin went into hiding. Darwin absorbed his fallen comrades' powers, and, converting himself into energy, fed Vulcan his powers. Vulcan was kept alive until his waking. Marvel Girl then separated Vulcan and Darwin again, leaving him open to an attack by all the X-Men. Although Xavier tried to stop Vulcan, Vulcan gave the X-men a severe beating. He escaped into space, intent on vengeance against the Shi'ar. One week later, McCoy and Xavier discovered that with the power of Darwin still residing in Vulcan his powerlevel would rival that of Galactus, the devourer of worlds. Meanwhile the comatose Darwin was slowly reforming a physical body for himself. At the funeral for Banshee, Sway, and Petra, Cyclops sent the depowered Professor X away, claiming that the X-Mansion was now his responsibility. Onomatopoeia 16:41, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Polaris / Phoenix

This isn't an error, in House of M, Magneto's defeat in the past depowered Lorna Dane (Polaris). As a result, in the continuity following that retroactive adjustment, Polaris would not have taken part in the Krakoa event, since she would have had no mutant powers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.19.142.132 (talk) 15:00, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
