Birth year

he's either born 1970 or 1969

Born where?

IMDb list him as being born in Long Beach, California. So do Yahoo and MTV]. Wikipedia says Clarksdale, Mississippi. I assume Wikipedia is wrong, so I changed it. In case anyone has info that Wikipedia is right, change it again but please add a source :) -- Sander 10:07, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The fact of Nate Dogg's birthplace is the subject of discussion over at MusicBrainz, Edit #92057897. An editor there says they are a family member and are certain that Dogg was born in Clarksdale, MS. Two sources cited:

I spent some time following links in various sources cited in Nate_Dogg#Early_life. The only source which says Dogg was born in Clarksdale is the City of Clarksdale website. News reports by reliable sources from the time of death uniformly say Dogg was born in Long Beach. That, plus the comment by PamelaHaleBurns above, persuades me that place of birth is disputed but Long Beach is more likely. Guest appearances are the essence of Nate Dogg. He had no successful albums (and some of them are of the same tracklist as you can see above in the discussion) but had very successful cameos. Is there some way you can verify that? WP:V is a non negotiable requirement of Wikipedia, so if you could find some unbiased, reliable, third party sources stating that, it could remain. Otherwise, per Wikipedia rules, any editor can remove material that is unsourced. I realize allmusic is not a good source for Nate Dogg, but at least it is something. And the fact that he is credited with contributing to over sixty chart singles is certainly significant.[4] But the undocumented stuff detracts from his importance for the general reader, and Wikipedia articles are supposed to be for the general reader. Genre

Missing things

I also think it needs to be updated. Nate Dogg's voice was the "hook" voice for over a decade in rap in 100s of guest appearances, most of which are not noted. The biggest miss is his official group album with Warren G and Snoop Dogg called "213 The Hard Way", which had many singles and was the best work from all 3 musicians in years. I believe it came out in 2004 and has it's own link in wikipedia but it should be attached to Nate Dogg's biography with a more substantial list of guest appearances. Nate Dogg's voice has a direct impact and influence on hip hop's current state and future. Stroke

Long Beach, California singer Nate Dogg, who had a stroke last last December, has unfortunately had another stroke yesterday. (9-17-08)

The 39 year-old was left paralyzed from that stroke and reports say that this one is even more serious.

I think you've missed my point. Specifically, my point was that the hooks might (as in, it could be called that by some, but it is open to one's interpretation) have been of a singing style (again, it could be open to one's interpretation), but his rise to notability was as a rapper. I appreciate the reference, but still do not support the word "singer". As I've stated, "singing" is open to the beholder's interpretation.
