==History==
By 1901,a Zimindari School had been established in Bakote with 56 students, the first (student?) was famous Khakha Bumba Tribal Chief Sardar Hasan Ali Khan. The first journalist of [[Circle Bakote]], "Qazi Hadayetullah", was from Bakot, he worked for 23 years at the Daily Zimidar Lahore (1932-52).

Bakot was badly affected by the [[2005 Pakistan earthquake]], as the epicentre was in nearby Kashmir.

Bakot is located in the east of Abbottabad district, where it forms part of the border with the [[Muzaffarabad District|Muzaffarabad]] and [[Bagh District|Bagh]] districts of [[Kashmir]]. Bakote also borders the following union councils within Abbottabad district, to the north by [[Nambal UC NWFP|Nambal]], to the south by [[Berote Kalan]] and to the west by [[Phalkot]], [[Namli Maira]], [[Nagri Bala]].

* Maghfoor ur Rahman Abbasi was a famous leader of the [[PIA]] union and was arrested in 1977 he along with Tariq Aziz and Abdul Hafeez Pirzada were kept in the same cell.
* Mr Mohammad Almas Abbasi BA LLB (Punjab University, Pakistan) MA Sociology (Sheffield Hallam University. Lay member, Employment Tribunals (Sheffield). Board member, South Yorkshire Probation Board. Dr. Kamran Abbasi has grabbed the attention of the whole world due to his Brilliant and Splendid posts in the above said post section of the website.

* Sardar Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi comes in the category of yet another prominent personality from the said area. He passed the Competitive examination(CSS) and now a days serving as the Collector customs in Peshawar.
* Sardar Zafar Arbab Abbasi is also very well-known figure due to his marginal achievements in every medium of life. He has done his masters in English Literature and completed many other degrees and courses in the various fields of a education. He has attended Seminars and conferences on the wide range of international issues including the certificate from the Bangkok relating to AMI. He is serving as the Director Education in the NWFP EDUCATIONS DEPARTMENT in Abbottabad and contributed significantly in the accumulation of funds for the downtrodden community of the area in the aftermath of natural disasters i.e Earth quakes etc.
* Miss Muneera Abbasi comes in the category of yet another famous figure of the area of Bakote. She was the first female Judge of the said territory with the few major distinctions attached with it i.e decided Major portion of pending litigation in the shortest span of time, nominated as the best Civil Judge of NWFP thrice in three years. She has been deputed to the interior ministry and is now a deputy Secretary in Islamabad.
* COL Mumtaz Abbasi is prominent personality of the area. He is the first commissioned officer of UC Bakote and has contributed positively in social sector of the area.He has been awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz Military(TIM)for his meritorious services in the Army. Presently he is employed in GHQ Rawalpindi.
