Born in Frunze, Kyrgyzstan, barely escaping [[Odessa massacre]] during German and Romanian occupation of [[Odessa]], [[Ukraine]]. Lived in [[Odessa]], [[Ukraine]] from 1946 until he immigrated with his family to [[United States]] in 1990 and has since lived in Manhattan, New York. He works in his art studio in D.U.M.B.O. New York.

Graduated from Odessa State Art Academy in 1963. Member of the Union of Soviet Artists since 1973. Participated in 141 exhibitions, including 111 international shows and 40 solo exhibitions worldwide.

Lucien Dulfan was born in 1942 in [[Bishkek]] (then called Frunze, capital of [[Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic]]) during [[World War II]], where his family was evacuated.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://msio.com.ua/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=391|title=Hall 4. Lucien Dulfan (Russian: Люсьен Вениаминович Дульфан) (born 14 February 1942, Frunze, Kyrgyz SSR) is a Soviet-born conceptualist artist, resident in the United States since 1990. During his career in the USSR, he was considered a Nonconformist artist.[1][2]

Biography

Lucien Dulfan was born in 1942 in Bishkek (then called Frunze, capital of Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic) during World War II, where his family was evacuated.[3] The family returned to Odessa in 1946. After finishing his school he was accepted to the Grekov Odessa Art school from which he graduated in 1963. He became a member of the Artists' Union of the USSR in 1973, while working as a graphic artist for the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Iskra".[4] Lucien Dulfan emigrated with his family to the United States in 1990, settling in New York City.[5]
