===Football=== |
The Lee's Summit West Titan football has achieved at least one victory in the Missouri state playoffs since its inaugural season during the 2004-2005 school year. During the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school years the team further progressed to the state semi-finals, eventually losing to the Camdenton Lakers and then the Webb City Cardinals. Both the Camdenton Lakers and Webb City Cardinals went on to win a state title after defeating the Titans. Following the 2006 football season eight Titans were named to the Missouri all-state football team. In the 2007 football season the Titans hope to finally capture their first state title with the help of returning all-state starters Kody Boles, Matt Holt and Darian McKee-Linzie, as well as head coach Royce Boehm, whose motto for the 2007 season is "Finish the job.", in light of finishing one game short of reaching the state title game in each of the teams past two seasons. And the Titans did finish the job. Winning its first state football title the day after [Thanksgiving] Also of note is the Titans defensive line coach is former Arkansas Razorbacks nose guard Limbo Parks who was precedded by current Houston Texans assistant defensive line coach Tracy Simien. Simien was a former standout linebacker at TCU, as well as a great run-stopping middle linebacker in the 1990's for the San Diego Chargers and then the Kansas City Chiefs. |

===Music Department=== |
The LSW music department is well known around the metro and the nation after only a few years. Symphony Orchestra was chosen to play at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) Conference in 2006 after their 2004-2005 audition recording was chosen. LSW Orchestra students consistently earn a large number of seats in the Kansas City Metro All District Orchestra. Band and orchestra members have also earned the "Best Pit Orchestra" award from the Kansas City Cappies Organization in 2006 (Pirates of Penzance)and in 2007 for the musical "Violet." Symphony Orchestra was also chosen to perform at a Crystal Gayle show in Branson, MO, in November 2006. The LSW Choir department hosts a night of entertainment every year called "Friday Night Live", a collection of singing and dancing performances done by various student choral ensembles. Past themes have included "I love The '80s", "The Gong Show", and "Friday Night Fever." Each year, all Titan music groups perform at the Dairy Queen Ice Cream Social (located at 4th and Douglas in downtown LS) in September, usually previewing fall performance material. Several concerts are held throughout the year: October, early December, Contest, Pops (LS Symphony Orchestras only), Student led small ensembles, Festival of Strings/Cavalcade of Bands/Parade of Choirs. Orchestra and Band perform at either Baccalaureate or Graduation every year and Concert Choir performs at both of these events. |
The Titan music ensembles include: Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, Concert Choir, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, Freshmen, Women's Choir, Una Voce (Chamber Choir), Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion/Drumline. The LSW Music department is: Kirt Mosier (orchestras), Brian Hartman (choirs), Terrin Pabst (staff accompanist), Shawn Harrel (assistant band director, IB Music instructor), and Clif Thurmond (head band director). |
