Venezuela's Multi-ethnic population

Is there any way that you could explain Jaam0121, that multi-ethnic differs from mestizo. Considering the fact in the 2011 census, the term mestizo(the meaning differs from country to country) was disbanded, and that Multi-racial pride was put into effect with the support of Hugo Chavez, the 50% of Venezuelans that labeled themselves multiethnic (Euro/Afro/Indi), should be displayed. Proposed deletion of Chahal clan

The article Chahal clan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable article, possibly directory, several of these article are just stub unsourced, an article (list) containing all these entries would suit better. All these articles were kept under the moniker that they would be eventually expanded, which clearly they did not.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. How images work

Please take this in the good faith spirit as it is intended. Per Wikipedia:Images "Images are stored on the Wikipedia website or the partner Wikimedia Commons website. All free content is stored on "Commons" and images that have a copyright are stored on Wikipedia, under a fair use rationale. Also, images that are used on the Main Page have a local version to prevent vandalism from appearing. Editors can also choose to have a local version stored on Wikipedia." Embedding a Commons picture uses the exact same syntax as embedding a local picture. If a local picture exists under that name, it will take precedence, otherwise the Commons picture will be used. To the reader and most editors, there is no difference - same wikisyntax, same URL. The only way to see where a picture comes from is to go to the image link and see where it's hosted. With the picture we are discussing, there is no local copy (there's no need to as it's free from copyright) and any copies of it will come from Commons. Here is an example of an image stored locally [1]. No reference to Commons and no Commons logo in the upper right corner like this one: [2] --NeilN ^{talk to me} 22:55, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Edit war on Fantasy defense

Hello. You appear to be involved in an edit war on Fantasy defense.

While the three-revert rule is hard and fast, please be aware that you can be blocked for edit warring without making 3 reverts to an article in 24 hours. You are not entitled to 3 reverts and edit wars may be slow-moving, spanning weeks or months. Edit wars are not limited to 24 hours.

If you are unclear how to resolve a content dispute, please see dispute resolution. You are expected to cooperatively engage other editors on talk pages rather than reverting their edits. Note that posting your thoughts on the talk page alone is not a license to continue reverting. You must reach consensus.

If you feel your edits might qualify as one of the small list of exceptions, please apply them with caution and ensure that anyone looking at your edits will come to the same conclusion. If you are uncertain, seek clarification before continuing. Quite a few editors have found themselves blocked for misunderstanding and/or misapplying these exceptions. Often times, requesting page protection or a sockppuppet investigation is a much better course of action.

Err, I invoked WP:BLP which you need to answer as BLP is exempt from 3RR. I suggest you take it to the BLP noticeboard, if you engage in the behaviour you are accusing me of though be assured I will go to the BLP board rather than revert you again but I would also remind you that not only are you in exactly the same position as me re edit warring and 3RR but your case is worse as you havent invoked BLP, which is the only policy which can avoid 3RR when an editor believes a serious BLP violation is happening so please familiarize yourself with the policy. The Blakes' picture

Hello, I am the user who added all these materials and corrections. I think the list page looks far more appealing and I am glad a few truly remarkable artists I admire and respect are there in their photogenic glory as well. It is a far more pretty page now for a day's work.. Although I used the photo of Bobby Blake and Flex Deon Blake together and added on the the Listing of actors, I too have some doubt about the photo Bobby&Flex2.jpg being really free, although the photographer (named as Ken Kavanagh or user: kenk8 claims he works at times for Black Inches magazine amongst other outlets and did take the photo and made it available through Wikipedia. Unfortunately his last edit was 24 June 2009, so it very unlikely he will know of the notice to respond to your note. It is a shame, but if the picture has to go, it has to go. In any case, many thanks for your keen interest and attention. Incidentally this photographer exists in real life and has lots of pictures of male models. Scatology‎ edit

I'm wondering why you removed (only) one of the three that were tagged with a cite request at the same time, especially when that one was the most recently added.

Image not working on article

This was a new thing to me as well, so now that I figured it out, I thought I'd share. If you look on the image page for File:Wiki-fellatio02.png, you'll see a notice that it can only be used on certain pages. Well, apparently they really enforce that, and it won't even show up on non-approved pages. To have an exception made, you have to post on MediaWiki talk:Bad image list (which I've already done for this one). – RobinHood70 ^talk 11:38, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Holy anointing oil

The list of ingredients are about the plant ingredients, not recreation drug use so please do not use Cannabis_(drug). Even if we wanted too speculate why Cannabis was added Cannabis_(medical) would be more appropriate than Cannabis_(drug). Holy anointing oil is not about getting high for recreation, but healing. All this edit warring by you and Guy makes me feel very uneasy when all I am doing is trying to improve the articles by ensuring they are BLP compliant. It is not a lot to ask. Because I dont want to see the article deleted, that was Andy's suggestion. I want to see the article as full of names as it was, each one referenced for BOTH porn star and mainstream film star. Having an article does not of itself indicate that any individual is a porn star or a film star and therefore we MUST source these in every case where somebody is alive, this is our BLP policy. You are welcome to post on BLP noticeboard or ANI but be aware that having an article is not an indicator of being a porn star or a mainstream film styar and therefore I am within my rights to remove this material citing BLP before discussing it. On the other hand "Users who persistently or egregiously violate this policy (BLP) may be blocked from editing." this policy referring to "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." How is it possible to collaborate with encyclopedia-writers who feel perfectly at liberty to pass their personal judgement on my faith just because it is not on their "Short list of approved religions"?

Thank you for your kind invitation extended to me to mentor me in the ways of wikipedia since you know how they work. There are indeed several curiosities I have encountered in this area that you may be able to help navigate.

How is it possible to collaborate with encyclopedia-writers who feel perfectly at liberty to pass their personal judgement on my faith just because it is not on their "Short list of approved religions"? --- and they spend up most of their energy attacking Rasta theology without sound logic or valid points, in an attempt to argue for excluding all mention of it from related wikipedia articles? But clearly these guys run the show on wikipedia, and they dance in contemptuous rings all around Jimbo's well-intended policies, since as anyone can see, they've got it fixed for the time being in 2014 so that if anyone dares call them out for their egregiousness it is only the messenger who gets shot and takes the fall, is threatened, and obligatorily accused of being the wrongdoer. So for the time being I will maintain a low profile while people like that are allowed to "rule the roost" until something is done about it that needs to be done from the top down. I see someone else has also disagreed with your deletions at Kum Nye, making a complete mockery of your bad faith claim that I merely reverted you out of retaliation rather than because I was unhappy with the edits you were making to an article which has long been on my watchlist. You need to look at your own lack of professionalism, both in reverting a PROD removal with an outraged edit summary and in making nasty and false accusations against those who disagree with your edits. Both actions fall well below the standards of professionalism I always try to live up to while editing here. The only person reverting my edits is you. My "bad faith" claim was based on your edit "rv massive unexplained deletion by unreliable (ie PROD restoring) editor)". I might be a long-time editor but I haven't had a lot of conflicts with other editors.

Your removal of all of my edits is not constructive. If you object to something in particular, replace that section. I cleaned up quite a bit of that page; do you seriously object to my employment of the Wikipedia standard of the use of THL, the addition of {{bo}}, and the other bits?

There's a detailed reply over at the AN/I thread. Besides that, my personal advice to you is: control yourself. I'm not going to moralize about acting rashly and carelessly. I've done so on several occasions and regretted it later. I hope I'm improving, though. But you seem to be escalating the manner in which you conduct this particular struggle, and it's needlessly disrupting articles. Mind you, it still is very much an open debate whether porn actors should be singled out in the manner. Blanking out Jenna Jameson's name from a film with her name in the title is the kind of action that undermines credibility.

Btw, do you realize how potentially condescending you are by equating a feminist project like Dirty Diaries with commercial porn? Not that it's particularly pleasant that you indirectly judge those who do it for a living, but you seem to be upping your game by involving feminist porn. The people involved in DD are ideological activists or artists and most of them identify as female, queer or intergender. Those who have used their real names have been deliberately public about this. As a fiftysomething English-speaking male, you should be a lot more wary of the concept of mansplaining.

Tutelary, in Dirty Diaries he was so eager to enforce his unreasonable standards of referencing that he simply zapped[6] the first names he saw. That they were specified once more under "Plot" escaped his attention because he couldn't be bothered to read more than five sentences of text. Users who don't read articles have no business editing them for accuracy. This has absolutely nothing to do with servicing either readers or protecting the integrity of living persons.

What I mean by that is that it's a pandora box's effect. 'Mansplaining' becomes 'femsplaining' and 'cunt' becomes an acceptable word along with 'dick' and stuff like that. Sure we can force a dagger into his editing habits, but attempting to say that because he's a 50 year old male that he's not allowed to edit, or should be careful editing is making generalizations based on his gender and age. Fair enough. Verbal punches have been exchanged. If I phrase my concerns less brusquely, I believe you are manufacturing contention in relation to BLP info. You appear to be doing it specifically to articles that have to do with sexuality. Removing[7] perfectly innocuous, if whimsical, pop culture refs with notable names in bear (gay culture) implies you believe it's a concept that is somehow risqué. Which is pretty judgemental when you think about it. If this was genuinely about just names being named, you'd give the same treatment to all the uncited names in Tim Tolkien, Martin Gillingham and Jimmy Del Ray.

Other than that, you should really just follow Yngvadottir's advice above.

Your edits may actually have some merit, but you've completely ignored the topic ban and totally disregarded the community's concerns about your edits without even so much as acknowledging those concerns. Indeed, your only participation in that ANI thread was to insist that you were right. Thus, I have indefinitely blocked you. In this case indefinite is explicitly intended to mean "no fixed duration" rather than "infinite", and I sincerely hope that an amicable solution can found quickly. In order for you to be unblocked, it will be necessary for you to acknowledge that carrying on regardless is simply into an option, and you need to first edit something other than pornography articles for a while and second dramatically change your attitude to take a less combative, confrontational and much more communicative approach to editing in general and BLP enforcement in particular. Further, I am extremely disappointed that your total disregard came not only almost immediately after the topic ban was imposed, but while another editor was appealing to me on your behalf and I was listening to them and considering loosening the restriction. Error in Sexual selection

Your revision of the lead section (at 21:16, June 5), eliminating Darwin, left some text behind. The fragment "In 1858" and its footnote and the two sentences starting with "His selections" should either be eliminated (which makes the lead one sentence long) or revised. Right now it doesn't make sense.

Question about Lists of animals

Hello SqueakBox: I did some minor fixes to Lists of animals and saw the recently added Lists of animals#Animals (by common name) and I'm not clear on how that list was selected or if it's really useful there. It might be a good place to put List of birds by common name, List of common fish names and others but an actual list with no clear criteria for inclusion doesn't seem to fit. What do you think? Perhaps List of animals by common name, good luck to anyone trying to sort that list by bird, fish etc. I found it in outline of zoology where it was an even worse fit. Amphibian

As the person who brought Amphibian to featured article status, I keep an eye on it. Yesterday you added two paragraphs which were below the standard of the rest of the article in referencing, spelling and punctuation. The content was relevant and I have left the second paragraph, which was well cited. The first paragraph had no citation so I have temporarily removed it, but if you provide a good source it can go back. I had wondered if something like this might happen. The problem is that sexual selection as a subject is very important indeed in biology but our coverage of it doesn't reflect that. And really a featured article on amphibians which just puts its poor quality sexual selection coverage into another article shouldn't really be a featured article, IMO, given how important sexual selection is. I am trying to improve the poor quality sexual selection in amphibians article and certainly will want to include a section in newt, salamander etc as well as amphibians.We need to include good quality coverage of sexual selection in amphibians, ignoring the subject is not an option. Camila Batmanghelidjh

I removed the unsourced, and apparently untrue, claim that Camila Batmanghelidjh is a philanthropist. Why did you put it back in with this edit summary[8] "rv, that edit was no good and should not have ben left 12 hrs, as for the editor, if you cant edit then dont". WP:BLP says unsourced material in BLPs "should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion", so could you explain why you considered it "no good and should not have ben left 12 hrs." As for the rest of the edit summary, this is a borderline WP:PERSONAL attack, and WP:Bite also applies considering you have no idea of my editing history. Regarding Education

Juhayman al-Otaybi wikipedia page having a tag Infobox criminal, could not make changes to it. Juhayman al-Otaybi neither represented to Umm Al-Qura University nor he was student. But still Google Knowledge base result shows his education refrs to Umm Al-Qura University, but has studied through Islamic University of Madinah. Our prime object is we dont want to see him in Google Knowledge base results as Notable Alumni. It is the same page; the whole idea of wikidata is to link an article in different languages. https://www.wikidata.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Q330662&setlang=ar, ie you just add &setlang=ar to the end of the url and you have the page in arabic.
