There are an estimated 750,000 [[British African-Caribbean community|Black Caribbeans in the UK]], the largest subgroup of this are [[Jamaican British|Jamaicans]] which number over 400,000. The remaining 350,000 people originate from the various other [[Caribbean Islands]], including Saint Lucia. In [[2001 UK Census]], 8,265 UK citizens were born in Saint Lucia, and considering the Black Caribbean growth rate in the UK, the Saint Lucian born community is the UK in 2008 numbers around 11,000, also there is likely to be up to three times as many people of Saint Lucian heritage (bringing the Saint Lucian British population to around 33,000 - or equivalent to 20% of the population of the island of Saint Lucia itself).<ref name=autogenerated1 /> |
