ACL E3A #501 built 11/19/39, was wrecked before delivery to ACL, returned to EMC and rebuilt as an E6A. Diesel Era Nov-Dec 1999. --[[User:SSW9389|SSW9389]] 15:00, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
A further note on ACL #501: The rebuilt unit appears to have kept its 567 U-deck engines, but the electrical specification is the same as later deliveries of ACL E6As. Just a historian's note here, but all GM locomotives built prior to 1941 were built by the Electro-Motive Corporation (EMC). The Electro-Motive Division (EMD) was formed on January 1, 1941 with the merger of the Winton Engine Company with EMC.
