Chalkiades has two settlements, Ano Chalkiades which the population originated from the refugees of [[Dela]] (now [[Tilkoy]]) in historic [[Cappadocia]] during the [[Greco-Turkish War]] and Kato Chalkiades which came from other inhabitants. The origin of the name comes from the large iron.
