On [[January 1]], [[2006]] Yakuno, along with the town of [[Miwa, Kyoto|Miwa]], also from [[Amata District, Kyoto|Amata District]], and the town of [[Ōe, Kyoto|Ōe]], from [[Kasa District, Kyoto|Kasa District]], was merged into the expanded city of [[Fukuchiyama, Kyoto|Fukuchiyama]].

As of [[2003]], the town had an estimated [[population]] of 4,652 and a [[population density|density]] of 46.06 persons per [[square kilometer|km²]]. The total area was 100.99 km².
