Detrimentalist is a breakcore album by Canadian artist Venetian Snares, released June 9, 2008. A distinct departure from the classical themes of 2007s My Downfall (Original Soundtrack), Detrimentalist sees Aaron Funk using early 90's drum and bass, rave and ragga over his usual complicated time signatures and breakbeats, and also appears to show influence from late 90's video game music.
Tracks that have been sampled on the album include Elephant Man's "Haters Wanna War", KRS-One's "Phucked" and Maestro Fresh Wes' "Let Your Backbone Slide".

Track 6 ("Poo Yourself Jason") is named in an response to a song called "Pee Yourself Aaron" writte by Bong-Ra.

On the second track, Koonut-Kaliffee, the voice of Leonard Nimoy as commander Spock is used as a sample. It was taken from Star Trek: The Original Series episode Amok Time. the Koon-ut-kal-if-fee is a Vulcan mating ritual in the Star Trek universe. The track is also notable as being one of the only Venetian Snares songs in 4/4 time.
