After some time, [[Kris Aquino]], has come back to primetime after her last series, the successful [[Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara (TV series)|television adaptation]] of ''[[Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara]]''. Leading the cast, Aquino plays Celine, a woman who has trusted too much. Joining her is the "love team" of [[Kim Chiu]] and [[Gerald Anderson]] who have previously worked together in the successful teleserye, ''[[Tayong Dalawa]]''. The two are playing star-crossed lovers though both their families have hidden secrets. Also from ''Tayong Dalawa'' are [[Coco Martin]] and [[Gina Pareno]], who gained popularity for portraying Ramon and Lola Gets.


It is also part of the 60th Year of Pinoy Soap Opera Celebration.
Veteran actors, [[Gabby Concepcion]] and [[Albert Martinez]] are also in the cast. This is Concepcion's next project right after the hit series, ''[[Dahil May Isang Ikaw]]''. Because Martinez was still on the religious series, ''[[May Bukas Pa]]'' when production on ''Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo'' began, and his character in ''May Bukas Pa'' was killed off during the first week of ''Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo''. Although he left the show, Martinez had been very popular as Mayor Enrique. Concepcion and Martinez are romantic rivals for Celine. [[Maricar Reyes (actress)|Maricar Reyes]] and [[Jacklyn Jose]] are also in the cast. Jose is back after her last series, ''[[Nagsimula sa Puso]]'', where she also played a villainous role.

Celine is trapped in an unhappy marriage with Frank. One day, Celine was shocked to hear that Frank's plane crashed. While grieving the loss of her husband, she also discovered that Frank had an affair with Astrud and they had a love child named Ringo. Steve from [[National Bureau of Investigation (Philippines)|NBI]], was the investigator assigned to Frank's case. Later on, they became friends and fell for each other. They had an affair that nobody knew except Barry, Celine's best friend.
On July 2009, in an interview in the Philippine talk show, ''[[The Buzz (talk show)|The Buzz]]'', Kris Aquino revealed that she would be starring a primetime drama with Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. The series was supposed to be [[Robin Padilla]]'s comeback show on ABS-CBN, but he turned the offer down. Production started October 2009.
The locations were in different parts of [[Luzon]]. According to Aquino, they shot scenes in [[Zambales]], [[Marikina]], and [[Manila]]. All the character's first names are adapted from international singers.


Eight months later, Frank was found alive. Celine walked away from her relationship with Steve for the sake of her marriage to Frank. However, she found out that she got pregnant by Steve. For the sake of her family, she told Frank that he is the father of her daughter, Gwen. From then on, Celine vows to be loyal to her family.

She lived in with Steve and decided to raise Robbie so he didn't feel as if not having a mother or father. She marries Steve as Robbie grows up as an adult, but finds out that she cannot produce a baby. Just when she was about to adopt a baby with her husband, Steve, she got kidnapped and shot. She dies but became part of the problems Celine faced being an employee, a friend, a sister, and a good in-law.
* [[Max Eigenmann]] as Anna Alicia Magdalena – She was the neighbor who lived beside Steve, Robbie and Selina's house. She was working too at an orphanage before she attended PNPA. As she attended the PNPA with Robbie, with whom she falls in unrequited love, but their relationship remains platonic. Left the PNPA a year before graduating, she currently works at NBI with Robbie and Steve.

A rather unfortunate event brings Steve and Celine’s paths together. An airplane crash leads them towards the same place while searching for two different people--Celine for her husband Frank who was then flying the aircraft turned to rubbles; and Steve for a fugitive who was reported to be one of the same plane’s passengers. It is a truly devastating event for Celine; and to further add injury to her loss, she once and for all discovers from her husbands recovered belongings that he is in fact the father of Astrud’s son, Ringgo. With Frank’s body nowhere to be found, Celine is then left with no other choice but to assume that her husband is finally dead. Now that she’s a widow, she once and for all decides to move on with her life. Surprisingly, her goal is made easy by Steve’s sudden entry in her life; but unfortunately, their love affair is immediately cut short by Frank’s rather unexpected return.

To Frank’s delight, Celine gets pregnant; but surprisingly, the latter isn’t exactly as excited as he is. Apparently, she is pretty certain that the kid in her womb isn’t Frank’s--it is actually Steve’s. On the other hand, Steve somehow gets a kid of his own. Incidentally, he meets a poor orphan in Cebu named Robbie; and while waiting for the kid’s elder sister Celina to fly back home, he volunteers to temporarily adopt him. Surprisingly, aside from finding Robbie’s legal guardian upon Celina’s return, Steve also ends up finding himself a loving wife. Celine tries her best to be a good mother to Gwen; but to her dismay, her daughter only ends up hating her than ever. Apparently, Astrud’s plan to subtly win Gwen’s confidence is a raging success; surprisingly, the young lady even admits to her that she would rather have her as a mom over Celine. On the other hand, Robbie gets shot. Being an aspiring honorable policeman that he is, he tries stopping a deranged man from shooting an innocent driver, thus leading to his unfortunate predicament.

As the story goes on Celine is having problems being a mother too Gwen and being a teacher a mother and keeping secrets so her family wouldn't break apart meanwhile Gwen's rebellious side kicks in and as the mother daughter feud goes on anger erupts both mother and daughter because of Astrud's ways both think oppositely where Celine thinks Astrud is just making Gwen do all these things just to get her side and her fathers while Gwen thinks its only her mothers thinking that is wrecking everything no wonder to even her attention no one can get along. The past seems to catch up on Celine meanwhile as she heads to a convention Robbie and Steve get into the picture coming to Manila for same reasons and Steve working while Robbie is going to take his education in the police academy here in Manila meanwhile Frank persuades Gwen to say sorry to his mother but as she heads to the bathroom Robbie and Gwen meet and unexpectedly things don't go so well as the twos bitter enoounter makes things not so well especially now Celine and Celina meet and even Steve's return makes it irritable even for Celine to know that Steve is married to Celina and as paths cross Gwen keeps seeing Robbie wherever she goes even at parties and even when Celina decided to apply as a teacher at Celine's school as Celine and Celina become friends and as employee and boss both women feel same way unhappy marriages as for Celina she cannot give a child to Steve and as for Celine she feels as if the consent of Frank makes it hard to get her daughters attention because of her rebellious ways and because no one understands that all she wants is a perfect family after all she has gone through and now things go awry as Steve is doing a case basically Celine can't help but sell the school because she doesn't want the family to get to close after days and weeks later and because of Gwens behavior she decides to go to Australia which leads to Ringgo not coming which leads the family into more drama now that Ringgo and Gwen and Ringgo have met Celina's suspicion of another woman leads to more peril in Celines life as Frank and her start fighting meanwhile Gwen gets kidnapped but survives and Robbie and Steve save her and see a RX bracelet left in the scene which enters 3 unsuspected women who are trying to get back at Frank and Astrud who they owe too and are the biggest syndicates in the underworld meanwhile as Astrud sees Steve and Celines closeness a problem occurs and what leads them close is when Celine confronts Astrud and after her hit she comes back and Frank and Gwen become close after feeling what Celine felt hurt now As days go by Celines pregnancy and Robbie and Gwen go to the same school the bitter meetings never end and as for Celina after Steve is doing Gwens case he wants to step up as father to Gwen and for the last few weeks he gets closer and closer to danger and meanwhile Ringgo meets Christina and both get to know each other better until one day when Robbie and Ringgo and Gwen were going out to an outing Christina was told by Astrud to leave him alone but as they all left the driveway out of nowhere a team of men kidnap all 3 which leads to a heated up revealation to everyone as The RX have something to do with Frank's disappearances and Astrud's new business the two now work for the underworld and now Steve believes Frank maybe the one all around it Celine doesn't believe it but Franks mother Petulah does and as they are kidnapped all 3 can't believe that Frank maybe all around it meanwhile as weeks go by after kidnapping the Crisanto's and Sebastians are all distraught even Ringgo and Astrud but as the RX gang come in after the survival of the 3 running away from the cruel syndicates Ringgo looks for answers after remembering Astrud had a bracelet with an RX while Robbie and Gwen's love cannot be handled by Celine Celina nor Frank as Steve is still on the case Christina and Ringgo's hearts come together but Frank leaves again but his disappearance and Steve getting close to information about the RX gang Astrud decides to locate where Frank is but the RX team leader Aludra does not want to give information Astrud witnesses and incident between Steve and the man who was Steve's hope for justice Astrud is now in bigger trouble as the police are thinking she is the one who shot Steve meanwhile Ringgo must lie but the only truth he can tell is about the RX gang meanwhile Robbie and Gwen's hearts aspire each other Celine breaks everything apart as one day they get a package from Frank saying his last words for leaving the RX gang to live in Australia with the family so no more harm can be done but the story still continues with twists but how will their futures go even the love between Robbie and Gwen and even Ringgo and Christina and Celines new life as her new child to Frank makes the family closer what things will begin to come their way ?<ref>http://www.abs-cbn.com/Weekdays/episode/detail/article/6304/kungtayoymagkakalayo/Episode2.aspx</ref>

Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo (International title: If We Were To Be Apart / transl. If We Are Far Apart) is a 2010 Philippine television drama series broadcast by ABS-CBN. Directed by Erick C. Salud, Trina N. Dayrit and Dondon S. Santos,[1][2] The series features an ensemble cast consisting of Kris Aquino, Gabby Concepcion, Albert Martinez, Gina Pareño, Jaclyn Jose, Maricar Reyes, Gerald Anderson, Coco Martin, Max Eigenmann, Jessy Mendiola and Kim Chiu. It aired on the network's Primetime Bida line up and worldwide on TFC from January 18 to July 9, 2010, replacing Dahil May Isang Ikaw and was replaced by Noah in Agua Bendita's timeslot.

It is also part of the 60th Year of Pinoy Soap Opera Celebration.

Synopsis

Celine is trapped in an unhappy marriage with Frank. One day, Celine was shocked to hear that Frank's plane crashed. While grieving the loss of her husband, she also discovered that Frank had an affair with Astrud and they had a love child named Ringo. Steve from NBI, was the investigator assigned to Frank's case. Later on, they became friends and fell for each other. They had an affair that nobody knew except Barry, Celine's best friend.

Eight months later, Frank was found alive. Celine walked away from her relationship with Steve for the sake of her marriage to Frank. However, she found out that she got pregnant by Steve. For the sake of her family, she told Frank that he is the father of her daughter, Gwen. From then on, Celine vows to be loyal to her family.

After nearly eighteen years, Celine is reunited with Steve. She learns that Steve is married to Selina. Celine realizes that she still loves Steve, but she knows that they are no longer meant to be. To make things more complicated, Gwen, who has grown into a pretty young lady, meets Robbie, the younger brother of Selina. Gwen and Robbie begin as enemies, but later fall in love.[1]

Celine does everything to become a good wife and tries to give her husband Frank a child but unaware that she is too strict to Gwen. Celine is harsh and jealous at Astrud and still secretly doesn't accept Ringo in her family. She finds out after her husband Frank is in an airplane crash she finds out that he has a child which hurts her. She falls for Steve but as she falls deeply and passionately, she is informed by Steve about Frank's appearance and how he is recently alive which makes her in dismay and what's worse she loses Steve and she has a child with Frank, but later finds out that it is her child with Steve.
  • Kim Chiu as Gwen Marie Crisanto Sebastian-Castillo – Celine's rebellious teenage daughter with Steve and wife of Robbie Castillo. She hates her mother because Celine always wants perfection, but was spoiled by her father and Astrud. She will realize that throughout her rebelliousness the truth behind her family problems in fact, her mother's struggle to keep a secret, her father Frank being part of a syndicate and not truly her father by blood and how she must also help her family not to fall apart.
  • Gerald Anderson as Robbie Castillo - Lost his parents at a very young age; was saved and raised by Steve. Robbie is protective of his elder sister Selina, who married Steve. He dropped out of the PNP Academy a year before graduating, he currently works at NBI with Steve. Husband of Gwen, and is determined to do everything for Gwen, he and his older sister Selina are the only two left but Selina dies at the half final weeks of the story. He demands justice for what has happened and convicts Ringo as he is enthralled in these family problems.
  • Gabby Concepcion as Steve Sebastian – The biological father of Gwen. He saves Robbie as a child and takes him under his wing. Steve falls in love and marries Selina, Robbie's elder sister. He is an NBI agent who is dedicated to saving lives, but he still regrets not having saved his own (first) wife and their unborn child from death while she was working overseas.
  • Albert Martinez as Francisco "Frank" Crisanto† (RX Gang code name: "Uno") series' main antagonist - Celine's airline pilot husband who was thought of as dead after a plane crash, but turns out to be alive after several months. He is the one who witnessed Selina's death that leads him into Rustico's/Supremo's syndicate. He was shot and killed by Robbie.
  • Gina Pareño as Petulah "Pet" Crisanto - Frank's overprotective mother. She loves Frank so much that she will do anything for him. She corrects every mistake Celine, Frank, or Gwen does. After becoming a widow, she raised Frank alone and did everything to give the best of everything to her son. Now that Frank has his own family, she still lives with them and gets in between their family affairs she will reveal truth as she sees her unknown husband alive and what secrets lurk around her and some that confront her.
  • Jaclyn Jose as Astrud Quijano-Crisanto† series' main female antagonist - "As The Villain Killer Influence" - Co-worker of Frank, with whom she has a son, Ringo, due to an affair. She spoils Gwen so that Gwen would love her more as a mother and because she can't take Frank away from Celine. She becomes the most controversial antagonist as she will do anything for money her family and will give her son all of those things. She was shot by Celine and dies afterwards.
  • Maricar Reyes as Selina Castillo-Sebastian† – Elder sister of Robbie. She and her brother lost their parents after they got shot. She worked abroad but came to find her parents dead. She lived in with Steve and decided to raise Robbie so he didn't feel as if not having a mother or father. She marries Steve as Robbie grows up as an adult, but finds out that she cannot produce a baby. Just when she was about to adopt a baby with her husband, Steve, she got kidnapped and shot. She dies but became part of the problems Celine faced being an employee, a friend, a sister, and a good in-law.
  • Max Eigenmann as Anna Alicia Magdalena – She was the neighbor who lived beside Steve, Robbie and Selina's house. She was working too at an orphanage before she attended PNPA. As she attended the PNPA with Robbie, with whom she falls in unrequited love, but their relationship remains platonic. Left the PNPA a year before graduating, she currently works at NBI with Robbie and Steve.
  • Jessy Mendiola as Cristina Angeles – She and Ringo meet at an aeronautics school and fall in love. The show premiered with a 34.4% household rating in the GMA Network-dominated Mega Manila Area. The show on ABS-CBN beat its rival program The Last Prince (31.7%) on GMA Network. The show was the #1 primetime series for the night, ranked second overall, behind GMA's newscast, 24 Oras at 35.7% in the Mega Manila TV Ratings based on AGB Nielsen Mega Manila data. The finale episode posted an impressive 14.5 people rating (not household rating) in the Mega Manila ratings beating its rival program (Endless Love) on GMA Network which posted a competitive 14.4 people rating. The show ranked #1 for the night in Mega Manila. ABS-CBN's Agua Bendita tied with GMA's Endless Love with 14.4 people rating each.

Based on the Kantar Media/TNS Nationwide TV Ratings, the pilot episode of posted an impressive 36.4% household rating while the finale episode mustered a whopping 42.7% beating its lead-in program, Agua Bendita (42.1%). Both of these programs are known to be one of the highest-rated successive pairs of regular Philippine primetime television series in any annual network programming lineup since ABS-CBN's reemergence as the dominant TV network in the nationwide ratings in 2009.
