Copypaste move
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give :Meganthropus a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Meganthropus palaeojavanicus <!-- Template:uw-c&pmove--> –&nbsp;<b style="font-size:85%;color:darkblue;font-family:Segoe Script">Paine Ellsworth</b><span style="font-size:118%;color:blue">C<span style="font-size:85%">LIMAX</span>!</span> 22:05, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Clarification
Paine Ellsworth, I have a few things to say.
I will respectfully protest that "Homo" is Latin for Man or Human. Since we live in the 21st Century, it is less sexist to indicate human.
The entry for Meganthropus is grossly misleading and confused. I have spent some time putting together a page on Meganthropus offline. How may I replace what is already on Wikipedia.

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 23:08, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ben Liebrand, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bad (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Copypaste move

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Meganthropus a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name.

Clarification

[edit]

Paine Ellsworth, I have a few things to say. I will respectfully protest that "Homo" is Latin for Man or Human. Since we live in the 21st Century, it is less sexist to indicate human. The entry for Meganthropus is grossly misleading and confused. I have spent some time putting together a page on Meganthropus offline. How may I replace what is already on Wikipedia. Charles

Hi,

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Charles Roane moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Charles Roane, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
