Mangavilai is one of the small villages in the [[Kanyakumari]] district. Generally only one relationship in our village i.e. Brother and Sister's relationship. This is the main feature of our village.It has the population of around 850 peoples. Our village has a name board in the entrance having three languages (Hindi, Tamil and English). In Kanyakumari district few villages having name board with three or more languages and the same name board was established on 24.09.1985. It is a peculiar display

The village has seen success in the sphere of politics, with village members serving at the [[Member of Parliament]] level. Village member M.C. Balan served in the Rajyasabha, and is also notable for launching an ultimately unsuccessful 1972 bid to contest the seat held by former [[Tamil Nadu]] [[Chief Minister|CM]] Shri [[K. Kamaraj]].
Basically our [[peoples]] are hard workers. They went upto [[Member of Parliament]] level. One of our village man contested in a Parliament election against the greatest [[leader]] Shri [[K. Kamaraj]] (Ex-[[Chief Minister]] of [[Tamil Nadu]]) in 1972, but he failed and became a Rajyasabha Member. His name is Shri M C Balan, Ex-MP.

Mangavilai is comes under Dharmapuram [[Panchayat]]. It is situated 1&nbsp;km North of [[Arabian Sea]] and 9&nbsp;km distance from [[Nagercoil]], which is our district [[Head Quarters]] and 20&nbsp;km distance from Kanyakumari, which is the southern most tip of our land. It is surrounded by some other small villages namely Pilavilai in the north, Neduvilai in the east, Kaliyayanvilai in the south and Puthoor and Panavilai in the west.

Mangavilai is situated 1 km from the coast of the Arabian Sea. It is 9 km from Nagercoil, the district Headquarters, and 20 km from Kanyakumari, the southernmost point in mainland India. It is surrounded by several other small villages including Pilavilai to the north, Neduvilai to the east, Kaliyayanvilai to the south, and Puthoor and Panavilai to the west. Village facilities include a library whose reading room features more than 15 weekly and monthly magazines, as well as a sports complex for use by local youths. The library provides educational and employment services through various consultants and documents. The village organizes an annual meeting of employed villagers for the purpose of village development and cultivating leaders to develop education resources.

The village produces many doctors, engineers, lawyers, college professors, and government employees, including personnel in State Administrative Service as well as in military or paramilitary service. Today, the village has one government employee in each household.
