This is very poorly written. I would like to see someone with actual knowledge of the subject contribute. Is this condition in the DSMB? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.68.231.82 (talk) 01:00, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

This section is poorly written, vague, and entirely unsourced. We can delete it without losing anything of value and add it back in later should someone develop the appropriate sources. == Gymnophobia in Developing Sexuality ==

I have not seen it mentioned the role sexuality may take in this fear. As a child, I was terrified of showers in middle school, because of certain...feelings it triggerd. It took me two more years to figure out I was gay, during which time i failed PE simply because I refused to shower. As an adult, I can imagine no real sane situation where i would take a shower around other men, who were straight. But would this make a person gymnophobic, or would this fall under a different category?

I tried using google but ive never been very good at figuring out how to talk to it, so wasnt able to get any real results about it. Does anyone know how it relates to orientation? It would be good if we could find out for sure, since it is something that may well manifest AS gymnophobia, when sexuality has not fully asserted itself. Would this constitute a phobia, a false phobia, or something else all together?. I just cant find anything useful on my own. Im not adding this section yet, id much rather wait til someone gives input or finds sources on this that I have been unable to. It would be good to research the chrono-geographic propagation of gymnophobia. It can be hard to shine a light on it. I shall try to put fourth my points on the article page of the fundamental origins or material pre-conditions of gymnophobia. This may be the best word for the phenomenen, as other words seem to be less spacific.

I would like other wikipedians to expand on the chrono-demographic propagation of gymnophobia, and the historical stages of it's development. There is a lot that could be said, especially if anyone can dig up further references or documents. thanx —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teknikingman (talkcontribs) 10:55, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gymnophobia in Developing Sexuality

[edit]

I have not seen it mentioned the role sexuality may take in this fear. As a child, I was terrified of showers in middle school, because of certain...feelings it triggerd. It took me two more years to figure out I was gay, during which time i failed PE simply because I refused to shower. As an adult, I can imagine no real sane situation where i would take a shower around other men, who were straight. But would this make a person gymnophobic, or would this fall under a different category?

You aren't describing "fear of nudity" - you are describing fear of nudity in certain situations, and that's not really what this article is about. Rklawton (talk) 14:49, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
