Flapjack
Hi, if you compare the edits I made to the Flapjack episode page, you'll see I didn't actually add any info at all. All I did was copy edit some sections and add fact tags to unsourced statements. Reverting the page still contains all these errors minus the fact tags.

e.g.

What's there now (after your reverts):

"Captain and ToeNeil" is the name incorrectly used for the pilot short that was supposed to originally air as part of Cartoon Network's Wedgies. After it was canceled for some reason, it was advertised as a bonus featurette on the Flapjack, Vol. 1 DVD. When the DVD was released, it was not on the DVD. At a later date, the series creator, Thurop Van Orman stated that Captain and ToeNeil was just a regular short and not the pilot. Captain and ToeNeil and the unnamed pilot will more than likely never be aired. A short clip of the pilot was shown on an interview with Thurop on cartoonnetwork.com.

Compared to my edits:

""Captain and ToeNeil" is an unaired short incorrectly identified as the non-broadcast pilot episode, and originally planned as a bonus feature included on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Vol. 1 DVD. Ultimately, the DVD was released without the short and Thurop Van Orman, the series creator, later statedwhere that "Captain and ToeNeil" was in fact not the pilot. The pilot itself has also never been aired, however, a short clip of the pilot was shown on an interview with Thurop on Cartoonnetwork.com.where There are no current plans to release either short.fact"

In fact, rather than just reverting one edit, you mass reverted all of them which if you actually bothered to take the time to look you'd see was mostly nothing but copy editing for grammar, formatting, etc. In the future, you should take the time to actually look at what you're reverting.

List of Degrassi: The Next Generation characters
I don't mean to object to the three-revert rule, but I would like to explain myself, if I may. As I am new to editing Wikipedia content, I made the mistake of discussing my edits via private message with 117Avenue (who has consistently undone every edit I have ever made). That is, of course, my fault. However, I would like to point out that my intent was not to "edit war;" I was trying to have a legitimate debate about the content. I would also like to point out that my edits are more in line with the Wikipedia Manual of Style MOS:IDENTITY.

Please excuse my initial ignorance of acceptable debate procedures. My only intent is a to encourage a fair and respectful discussion of transgender persons in the media. Thank you for your time. ATgirl (talk) 17:54, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

"Dubious" edits
I see that you routinely revert unsourced edits with the edit summary "Reverted addition of dubious unsourced content." The particular edit which caught my attention, a table of leading goaltenders in the 1967 NHL season, is correct in every particular. The very next such edit of yours I checked has you claiming as "dubious" and "unsourced" changing the 'years active' date of a band planning an October release from "aug 2010" to "present." Among others is one where you use the tag to revert an item with the source and date named in the edit you reverted, your marking as "dubious" that The Graduate soundtrack reached the top of the Billboard album chart on April 6, 1968 (which, in fact, it did) and was knocked off by the album Bookends on May 25 (which, in fact, it was). Many of these reversions are packed closely together and target anon IPs, which begs the question as to whether you're just parking on Recent Changes and swinging at anything lacking an inline citation posted by someone who isn't an established editor.

Now this is very well and good, but it's a WP:AGF and WP:BITE violation both to hurl the word "dubious" at people when, in fact, the edits in question are accurate, and take only moments to ascertain whether or not they are. It is insulting to others to routinely categorize their edits as "dubious" and careless to do so indiscriminately without any notion as to whether they actually are. <span style="background:Blue;color:Cyan"> &nbsp;RGTraynor&nbsp;</span> 20:26, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

:Hi, and thank you for your concern. I am not "parking on Recent Changes", I am using huggle. "Reverted addition of dubious unsourced content" is the de facto standard nomenclature used by huggle for reversions of unsourced content. You may try to change that status at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback. If it makes you feel any better, I have removed "dubious" from my huggle.css file in this edit, but you may encounter resistance from hard-liners who insist that everything in every article (or at least every BLP) be sourced, making unsourced content "dubious" by definition. The hard line was defined when Jimmy Wales wrote 'There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative "I heard it somewhere" pseudo information is to be tagged with a "needs a cite" tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons.' in this message to WikiEN-l May 16 20:30:15 UTC 2006. &nbsp; — <font class="texhtml">Jeff G.&nbsp; ツ</font> 01:59, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

:: Thanks for your response ... and yes, I'm aware of Jimbo's quote, which I support. It still doesn't change the meaning of the word "dubious," nor make its routine and automatic use any less inflammatory and bitey. I'll raise the issue at Huggle Feedback; thanks for the link there.
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.

Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Why do you think that you are in charge of me and what I do?
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

Suggestions:
*There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
*Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
*Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
*This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.

Backlog: Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!
If I have told you that I am not yet finished with the article, then that means it is not finished. So quit bitching about the lack of cites. Also, not ever sentence needs a citation. I could find no such requirement when I tried to research this stuff on the how-to pages of Wikipedia.

Hello BASEPAGENAME,
::You seem to be the kind of person who likes it stick their nose into everything. In just checking out your pages I see where you have been jumping around from article to article within a matter of seconds and reverting edits, passing out warnings like candy, and doing all sorts of shit in what appears to be a very not well thought out way. The judgments you are attempting to make are not the type that can be successfully accomplished within the few seconds you devote to the issue before you suddenly jump to something else. Lastly, I do see any mention of any educational or professional credentials on your talk page. Without that kind of information, no one can judge the credibility of your arguments and actions. I went to Harvard. I have a law degree and a master's in public policy. I am also a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army. Very few 'editors' on wikipedia have much in the way of credentials. My talk page is no place for educational or professional credentials. My user page might be if I were not as stringent about isolating my various online and real-world personae from each other; suffice it to say that I have a four-year degree and three professional certifications, have managed systems that served over 10,000 employees, and have been fighting unwanted electronic information and destruction for about twenty years, including most of my over 70,000 edits to Wikimedia Foundation projects (over 62,000 of which were here on English Wikipedia). In 2008, the owners of the backpackers found out its value and relocated it. This stencil can no longer be located. == Comment, Clarification ==

THis is in response to your message on my user page, which I've posted below. Just so you know, I accidentally blanked a redirect page [I was trying to figure out a better way to redirect and accidentally hit save] and then immed. reverted it. I was not vandalizing the page. For some reason, when you look at the history of the page it doesn't show that I reverted it, but that you did seconds after--via one of your bots I'm sure. Anyways, I just wanted to clarify situation. The msg you posted on my page was:
: "Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Category:Authors. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it. If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process. — Jeff G. ツ 03:51, 23 August 2010 (UTC)"

It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Hi. In regards to your message to me here, I'd like to point out that I left a very clear edit summary in my edit. The proceeding user, Eddie Schluessel was actually the one who undid my edit without an edit summary for no valid reason (if you look, their edit actually restored - among others things - long-standing vandalism as Leo Sayer wasn't in a 1924 film ;)). In fact, the user has gone round undoing all my edits for no valid reason (some were even restored by another IP user). Tuxedomoon and Crammed Discs require the attention of someone more experienced than I. I found these pages when I was patrolling random pages. I tagged a band for notability and was told that the band was notable because it had two albums on a major label. After looking at Crammed Discs, I could not find evidence of notability and tagged it as such. The tag was removed and I was told it was "Unquestioningly notable". There are lots of links to investigate and I simply don't have the time to unravel what I expect is a Gordian Knot. Just thought you should know. :As discussed at #Tagging of Tuxedomoon above, I believe record label Crammed Discs is not a major label, but "one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)." Tuxedomoon has released at least 16 albums per Tuxedomoon's Releases page on Crammed Discs' website (which I need to put in the article), its label Crammed Discs has a history of 30 years (since 1980), and Crammed Discs' article here lists five notable performers as the latest on its roster. Thus, it is notable per WP:NBAND criterion 5 (but still could use more verifiable reliable sources). I'll try to look into the notability of Crammed Discs later. &nbsp; — <font class="texhtml">Jeff G.&nbsp; ツ</font> 23:04, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022

[edit]

Hello Jeff G.,

Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.

NPP backlog May – October 15, 2022

Suggestions:

 • There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
 • Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
 • Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles.
 • This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.

Backlog:

Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!

Reminders
 • Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
 • If you're interested in instant messaging and chat rooms, please join us on the New Page Patrol Discord, where you can ask for help and live chat with other patrollers.
 • Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
 • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.
 • To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

[edit]

Hello Jeff G.,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).
