Hello. Your account has been granted the "<tt>reviewer<tt>" userright, allowing you to [[WP:Reviewing|review other users' edits]] on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a [[WP:Pending changes|two-month trial]] scheduled to end 15 August 2010. |
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not [[wp:autoconfirmed|autoconfirmed]] to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only [[Special:StablePages|a small number of articles]], similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at [[Special:OldReviewedPages]]. |
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious [[WP:VAND|vandalism]] or [[WP:BLP|BLP violations]], and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see [[Wikipedia:Reviewing process]]). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found [[WP:Pending changes|here]]. |

== Racing Shell and Olympic Class Boats == |
Hi David, |
You recent made [http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Racing_shell&curid=1505676&diff=369724141&oldid=369714988 this edit] to the [[Racing shell]] article because you disagree that "Racing Shells" are sometimes referred to as "Olympic Class Racing Shells." I ask that you reconsider your edit. |
Even if your assertion that "boats such as 2+ and 4+ are not Olympic classes" were true (which it is not as I explain below), I would argue that the term "Olympic Class Shell" is still a relevant synonym for "Racing Shell" because the 1X, 2X, 2-, 4X, 4- (men only), and 8+ were all raced at the [[Rowing_at_the_Summer_Olympics#Events_2|2008 Olympics]]. We appear to agree that these configurations are olympic class boats, and my edit to the article stating that "a racing shell is also referred to as the Olympic class boat" is accurate and informative even if (as you assert) Olympic class is a subset of racing shell/fine boats. |
Furthermore, as I mentioned before, your assertion that "boats such as 2+ and 4+ are not Olympic classes" is misleading or inaccurate for two reasons. First, the 2+ and 4+ were raced in the Olympics for a century and as recently as the [[Rowing_at_the_Summer_Olympics#Events_2|1992 Olympics]], so it is not accurate to state that these configurations are not Olympic with nothing furhter. |
Second, your edit inaccurately conflates "Olympic Rowing Events" with "Olympic Class Racing Shell." These concepts are distinct and independent. The term "Olympic class boat" refers generally to those types of boats with a long slender design in the same way that fine boat or racing shell does. Referring to such a boat as an "Olympic class boat" is accurate independent of whether its configuration is currently raced in the Olympics or even whether it was ever raced in the Olympics. For example, an 8+ is an olympic class boat even if a particular manufacturer has never built a boat that has raced in the Olympics. Moreover, when Empacher makes and 8+ for a 155 pound crew, it is still an Olympic class boat even though there has never been a lightweight 8 Olympic event. And of course, if a crew puts sculling rigors on an Olympic class 8, the boat does not cease to be and Olympic class boat simply because there has never been an Octuple Olympic event. |
Below are references (cached to highlight terms) that demonstrate "Olympic Class" being used in a way that is synonymous with fine boat and racing shell, and independent of the concept of actual olympic events: |

== British National Grid System == |
Hi David - re: your revert on B.I / UK - that isn't the sense of the sentence. It currently (after your revert) reads "''Two such systems exist for the United Kingdom: this article describes the one used for Great Britain and its outlying islands (including the Isle of Man); a similar system, used throughout Ireland (including Northern Ireland), is the Irish grid reference system (used jointly by the Ordnance Survey of Ireland and the former Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland).''" Doesn't that clearly say that there is one system for GB and outlying islands and other for Ireland? Therefore, surely there are two in the BI and not two in the UK? There may well be other UK systems, but that isn't how the sentence currently reads. [[User:Jamesinderbyshire|Jamesinderbyshire]] ([[User talk:Jamesinderbyshire|talk]]) 15:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC) |
:The point is that there is at least one other system in the British Isles (in the Channel Isles), but that is outside the UK. There are 2 systems in the UK, but at least 3 in the British Isles. [[User:David Biddulph|David Biddulph]] ([[User talk:David Biddulph#top|talk]]) 16:13, 8 July 2010 (UTC) |
::Then the sentence is innacurate. At the moment it says there are two in the UK - one for GB and outlying islands - that by definition is the UK - and another for Ireland. That is not "two in the UK". It is two in the British Isles. Clearly it needs another modification to fit your information. [[User:Jamesinderbyshire|Jamesinderbyshire]] ([[User talk:Jamesinderbyshire|talk]]) 18:01, 8 July 2010 (UTC) |
:::How exactly is the sentence inaccurate? You statement ''one for GB and outlying islands - that by definition is the UK'' is fantasy. Since when does the "UK" not include Northern Ireland? The article states there are two in the UK, and there are, and it does so for a reason. The point being made in the article is that although there is a "British" grid system, not all "British" countries use the same system, since Northern Ireland uses a different one. Your attempt to horseshoe "there are 3 systems in the British Isles" misses the point being made. --[[User:HighKing|HighKing]] ([[User talk:HighKing|talk]]) 18:18, 8 July 2010 (UTC) |

The commissioning is due to take place in July 2011. Do you have an [[WP:RS]] from the RN that says this week's ceremony was a commissioning? ::And also see the [http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/operations-and-support/surface-fleet/future-ships/air-defence-destroyer-type-45/diamond/news/diamond-enters-portsmouth-naval-base-for-first-time RN website] which said "The 45-minute ceremony will include an ‘exchange of ensigns’ ceremony during which the Blue Ensign will be lowered and replaced by the Royal Navy’s White Ensign to mark the official handover. The event concludes with an ‘Acceptance Off Contract’ signing ceremony under the White Ensign." The RN do understand the difference between that and commissioning. I have managed to fix it. There were some erroneous <nowiki><noinclude></nowiki> tags in the diagram possibly left over from a pervious copy-paste edit. I also linked the template outside of the infobox so as to include the standard header which gives links to view or edit the template or view the template_talk (discussion) page (the '''[v • d • e] '''). -=# [[User:AmosWolfe|Amos E Wolfe]] [[User talk:AmosWolfe|talk]] #=- 13:52, 21 October 2010 (UTC) |

:Thanks for sorting it. I was a bit suspicious about the <nowiki><noinclude></nowiki> tags, but I don't know my way around the system well enough to try changing things. One of these days I'll have to learn my way around the syntax of these diagrams. So far any changes I have done to such diagrams have been very minor (such as turning Workington North to disused), & very carefully checked in preview!. Best. --<small>[[User:Dave1185|<font face="Rage Italic" size="4" style="color:#000000;color:green"><i>Dave</i></font>]] <span style="font-family:Italic;color:black">[[user_talk:Dave1185|♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫®]]</span></small> 14:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC) |

:The latest incarnation of the IP has been blocked for using multiple IPs. It could also have been for vandalism or for [[WP:3RR]]. We'll keep an eye open after the 3 days expire. - [[User:David Biddulph|David Biddulph]] ([[User talk:David Biddulph#top|talk]]) 14:53, 4 February 2011 (UTC) |

::*Well, its really bleedingly clear for us to see and piece things together to assumed that it was the work of the same anon editor since UK IP addresses were used throughout the persistent blanking spree on the article page of Type 45 destroyer within the last 48 hours. As per previous spree, I just reported it to AIV for follow up actions by them SysOps. Anyway, he's just helping us add to our contribution count, we should be thankful for his business, eh? {{=)|grin}} --<small>[[User:Dave1185|<font face="Rage Italic" size="4" style="color:#000000;color:green"><i>Dave</i></font>]] <span style="font-family:Italic;color:black">[[user_talk:Dave1185|♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫®]]</span></small> 15:22, 4 February 2011 (UTC) |

== Valery Nikolayevsky == |
The article of a famous Russian writer and dissident has been deleted (for having no “notability”) after the proposal of the Russian admin “Andrei Romanenko”. |
Mr. Romanenko obviously has set the goal for himself to harm Valerij Nikolaevskij, being a personal enemy of his ever since the author's life in Russia. The article is very important. In this article, we get to know how the writer Valery Nikolaevsky lived in Russia and fought against the Gang of Eight during the times of Gorbachev. Obviously the likes of Romanenko still can't get along with it. The article includes precise quotes, dates and sources. The deletion of the Russian article by Romanenko (one of the best articles in the Russian wiki) demonstrated his hatred for the talented Russian intelligentsia and for the writer Valery Nikolaevsky. The article must not be deleted. In it, we read the truth about the Gorbachev era in the city of Tolyatti. |
The creative intelligentsia is observing this process. We need your help for the recreation of the article, which without a doubt is “notable”. |
The German and French “Wikipedia” refused to participate in the deletion of their respective articles on the writer/dissident. We attach a copy of the entire deleted article. |
With everlasting respect to you, |
Son of the writer, Dan Nikolaevskij |
PS: My father is 72 years old. He has a bad sight and doesn’t use the computer. |

[edit] Biography |
Nikolayevsky was born in Moscow, July 31, 1939. His father, Ukrainian, Mikhail Vladimirovich Nikolayevsky was a Soviet fleet officer and doctor during the World War, who died on field 1943. His mother, Dora Yakovlevna, of Jewish descent, was an actress and worker of culture. She passed in 1976. In 1945, Nikolayevsky was separated from his mother and lived in an orphanage in Western Ukraine. After a country-wide search he was eventually found in 1950 and brought back to his relatives to Moscow. After the 8th grade of Soviet school, he was called by the Communist Party to work on various jobs all around Russia, including construction and a position with the Russian civil fleet. Nikolayevsky became leader of a young Communist group in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. However, because of his criticisms of the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, he was banished from the group and monitored by the KGB. After Khrushchev’s dismissal, Nikolayevsky moved to Tolyatti, where he founded the "club of creative intelligence" and the historical literary center House of Repin (Дом Репина) and the head of the literature union “Slovo”. In 1983, Nikolayesky finished courses of the Cultural Ministry of RSFSR and received a diploma as director of literary theater. (Swiss journal, “Der Landbote”, Number 187, “Russland ist im Moment kein glückliches Land”, Aug. 16 1996) His literary teachers were the Nobel Prize-nominated Konstantin Georgiyevich Paustovsky and Ruvim Isayevich Frayerman, recipient of a literary prize from Vatican for his book “Wild Dog Dingo, or the story of the first love”. Nikolayevsky’s first literary works were published in 1964 in the journal “Soviet Russia”. In 1982 Nikolayevsky became laureate (diploma and medal) of the pansoviet theatrical festivals as director and playwright. (Registrated by the Ministry of Culture of the USSR and the USSR Authors’ Guild, Dec. 1 1983) For his work on the poet Yevgeny Baratynsky, he received a literature prize by the pansoviet Komsomol Central Committee journal “Smena”. (Russian journal, “Sobstvinoyo Mneniye”, Oct. 12 1989) |

Quote (Topic "''The sectrets of [[Kremlin]]''"): “''That is the name of the book published in Austria in the German language. The author of which is the famous Russian writer Valery Mihailovich Nikolayevsky. The history of the book’s publishment is full of drama. It is based on documents that were collected for over 30 years and were given to Nikolayevsky by writer and laureate of the Stalin Price, Orest Maltsev. All those most worthy documents, V. M. Nikolayevsky couldn’t keep with him for a long period of time, since being under permanent observation by the KGB. Nikolayevsky was forbidden to leave the country. The materials were carried out to England, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, et al. by his true friends. And when being able to go to Europe himself he started to collect those rare documents… The years of strenuous work have not disappeared. The documentarily journalistical novel ‘The Secrets of the Kremlin’ very quickly was sold out in various European countries and received high critical acclaim.''” |
Today, Nikolayevsky’s books are sold in Poland, Sweden, Brazil, England, the US, in Germany, in Austria, Switzerland and China. Excerpts of Nikolayevsky’s literary work can be found in various newsletters and journals in Russia, in Austria, in Israel, in Germany, in Switzerland and in the US. Nikolayevsky is a member of the “Association of independent Russian authors”, of the “Writers Guild of Israel” and the international writer organisation “PEN”. |
