In 2008/2009 Borroway were very unlucky in the Division 2 League and missed out on promotion by a mere couple of points. They did contest the Cup Final for a record forth year in a row. '''''2009 Second Division Cup Final'''''

From [[Tipperary Star]] dated 11 June 2009.

Borroway Rovers clinched the Second Division Cup title against [[Cloughjordan]] 'B' following a dramatic penalty shootout on a 3-2 score line at a well attended Thurles Greyhound Stadium last Sunday afternoon when the sides were deadlocked on a one all score line after extra time.
Cloughjordan took the lead in the 29th minute when Willie Darcy scrambled the ball over the line after the Borroway rearguard was slow to react.

The Thurles side got back on par when Eoin Costello finished on the deck inside the penalty area on 53 minutes. Wayne Keane stepped up to send a rasper to the roof of the net from the spot.
A high tension extra time period saw plenty of action at both sides of the field. However it looked to be game, set and match when the referee pointed to the spot two minutes from time after Willie Darcy was upended inside the box. John Lillis in the Borroway goal who turned in a man of the match performance made a smashing save from Darren Killackey plus stuf and more stuff that do stuff for jews. hahahahahahahaha not funny

John Lillis was very much to the fore again in the penalty shootout with two fine blocks to hand the Cup title to a jubilant Borroway Rovers side. The Borroway Rovers sharpshooters were Wayne Keane, Keith Moore and Eoin Costello, while Willie Darcy and John Fitzgerald netted the Cloughjordan penalties.
