Mrs Farida Azam was the daughter of Abid Hussain khan of Moradabad, India, who started working as an overseer in the Officer’s Mess at Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan after the partition of India. Her mother Zubaida begum was the daughter of a native land owner belonging to [[Bachhraon]], [[Jyotiba Phule Nagar district]], [[Uttar Pradesh]], [[India]]. Farida was earlier schooled in Moradabad, India. But she also lived in Bachraon for some time as her maternal's lived over there, and her elder sister Shah Jahan begum was married to a native land owner, Ziaur Rehman khan. However later after Independence Farida continued her education in Home Economics College [[Karachi]]. |

She married the Pakistani Rehabilitation Minister Sardar Amir Azam in 1956. They had six children namely Farid, Munir, Murad, Mansoor, Waqar and Atiq. She accompanied her husband on official visits to some foreign countries in the 1950s. She remained associated with educational institution for children as its benefactor and social work. She appeared on media in some of the Pakistani dailies and weeklies. She also remained attached to a construction and housing firm [[Al Azam]].Mrs Azam Visited some neighboring countries during the 70's. And during the same era she formed a Memorial Society. She sponsored a Gold Medal in the University of Karachi in 1977. She participated as an organizer in the 1979-80's Pakistani elections from her own area. She remained associated with a London-based Pakistani weekly known as ''Aiena-e-Jahan''. She also commenced an occasional get-together for the students to compliment them. |
