Khan started her career as a model. She made her acting debut with the popular Star Plus show Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai (2007–2010) as Sadhna opposite Angad Hasija. She quit the show in June 2010 which remarked the end of her character. Khan then appeared in the Zee TV show Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi (2010–2012) as Mona where she replaced Priyal Gor. |
|||
In 2013, Khan made her entry in the Life OK serial Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq as Shaalu Pandey. She then played the role of Maya, an Icchhadhari Naagin in the popular Colors TV show Sasural Simar Ka (2014–2015). She was also seen in shows like V The Serial, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Encounter and Tujhse Hi Rabta. |
|||
Sara Khan was born and brought up into a Muslim family in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. She got married with actor Ali Merchant after three years of dating, on November 10, 2010 inside the Bigg Boss house. She slowly started realising that Ali, with whom she had saved jointly, had used up all of the money. Sara right now has no penny left with her and has to start afresh in life and work harder because she also supports her family completely. Sara could not believe that Ali could have done this to her when she was away battling it out with contestants to win Bigg Boss." The informer adds, "Ali had never mentioned to her about using up their savings. Ali might be a businessman but it looks like all's not going too well for him in his professional space. He was extravagant in his approach to life when Sara was in the reality show. Sara is upset that Ali had also hidden things from her like her grandmother's demise. Sara feels that she has been used by Ali, who was one of the key motivators for her to enter the show. Also, Ali had shown full support for Sara's allegedly staged romance with Ashmit Patel in the house and even the decision to get married on the show was his call because they were being offered a huge sum of money." Sara has thrown Ali out of her Lokhandwala home and her parents are with her in this moment of crisis. Meanwhile, Ali, too, is staying with his parents. It has been reported that Ali will be trying to win back Sara and has cited the reason for their temporary break-up is because Sara's parents did not approve of him and she didn't want to go against her parents wish. While some insiders feel that Sara might be the first one to move the court for divorce, some maintain that they might end up sorting their differences given how long their relationship has stood the test of time. Ali, too is in no mood for a talaaq. However, most admit that discord between the two crept up before Bigg Boss. On the reality show, she had even torn Ali's picture and said that her relationship with him was over. |

She quit the show in June 2010 which remarked the end of her character. Khan then appeared in the Zee TV show Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi (2010–2012) as Mona where she replaced Priyal Gor.
Reality television and other appearances
[edit]In 2008, Khan appeared as a guest contestant on the show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, along with Parul Chauhan who plays her onscreen sister in Sapna Babul Ka...Bidaai. The two of them played the game and then donated the winnings to the charity Help Age India. She also appeared in Amul Star Voice of India 2 alongside Angad Hasija, Parul Chauhan, and Kinshuk Mahajan on 20 September 2008 as a celebrity guest. She appeared on the popular TV show 10 Ka Dum, hosted by Salman Khan in August 2009[9] and hosted Dance Premier League, a dancing reality show that aired on Sony TV. In 2010, Khan was a contestant on Bigg Boss 4, the Indian version of the reality TV show Big Brother and stayed in the show for 10 weeks until she got evicted on Day 69.[10]
In 2013, Khan appeared in Life OK's Welcome – Baazi Mehmaan-Nawaazi Ki as a contestant and later went on to host the show BIG Fame Star. She also appeared in Nach Baliye 6 along with Paras Chhabra as a wildcard contestant but couldn't get selected. In 2014, Khan was seen in Ekta Kapoor's Box Cricket League. She also appeared in two comedy shows Comedy Classes and Comedy Nights Bachao. In 2018, Khan appeared in the music video Tere Jism with Angad Hasija.[11]
In July 2022, she entered Colors TV's Spy Bahu as Ahana.[12] Since November 2022, she portrayed Tanya Rastogi in Dangal TV's Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein 2.[13]
Personal life
[edit]Khan was married to TV actor Ali Merchant,[14] a Shia Muslim in an Islamic wedding ceremony at Bigg Boss 4 in 2010, but divorced him after two months in 2011.[15] Close friends of the couple stated that the couple was paid ₹5 million (US$59,000) for the marriage. The Colors channel denied that it had paid them for the marriage and called it their personal wish.[16] After the divorce she called the marriage a nightmare.[17] Merchant said in an episode of the reality show Sach Ka Saamna that he had married for publicity and that marrying Khan was the biggest mistake of his life.[18]
Khan dated co-star Paras Chhabra from 2012 to 2015 before breaking up with him for unknown reasons.[19] She later bitterly accused him of using her name for publicity.[20] Media reports in April 2015 speculated a marriage between Khan and her then-boyfriend, businessman Rishabh Tandon,[21] but she denied any such reports.[22]
In May 2019, Khan publicly confirmed a relationship with actor Ankit Gera.[23] By 2020, she was dating pilot Shantanu Raje, with whom she broke up three years later.[24] In December 2023, she announced that she and Raje are together again.[25]
