There are a variety of activities with which the user can interact with the pet, including washing, brushing, petting and feeding the pet. There are also activities whereby pets can interact with the pets of those in the "friends" network. A pet can visit the pets of their friends and perform the same activities to these pets (washing, grooming, feeding, etc.). A pet can visit other pets as many times per day as it is inclined. Pets will receive coins on the first visit to each friend of the day and Paw Points on this and each subsequent visit. Ways to earn coins in Pet Society include the Daily Lottery, visiting friends, winning awards, cleaning or playing with pets, winning hurdle races or betting on the outcome of hurdle races. Ways to earn Paw Points include visiting friends, buying items and using the stadium. |

An [[iOS]] version, ''Pet Society Vacation'' was released in 2011 with similar gameplay, but set on a tropical island with new settings like an underwater reef.<ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.gamezebo.com/2011/07/27/pet-society-vacation-review/|title=Pet Society Vacation Review - Gamezebo|date=2011-07-27|work=Gamezebo|access-date=2018-07-26|language=en-GB}}</ref> |

Earning a certain number of paw points makes the pet level up, in order to gain some coins, new features and special status. When originally release there were only 23. After 11 additional levels added, level number is totally 34. After houses were enlarged to accommodate ten rooms, an additional 13 levels were added bringing the total to 47. In the past, changes to the game meant that paw points were being reset after each level. After many complaints, Playfish changed the paw points back. In August 2010 Pet Society introduced new levels from level 47 to level 100.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://elmundodepetsociety.wordpress.com/niveles/ |title=Levels of pet Society |author= |date=4 October 2010 |work= |publisher= |language=Spanish |accessdate=4 July 2011}}</ref> |

Finding Hideeni, a mysterious black animal in a costume, in a player's house, a friend's house or in a Shop gives the player an opportunity to send a special gift to his or her friends. In Facebook, the availability of a gift is posted to a player's news feed where his or her friends can see it and click a link to claim the gift. Gifts are available to the first five friends who click to claim them; any friends thereafter get a message telling them that all the gifts have been claimed and keep looking for another gift post soon. |

Pet Society was a social-network game developed by Playfish that could be played on Facebook. The game ranked as one of the most popular Facebook applications.[1][2] Players could design their pets by choosing genders, names, colors and altering appearances. The user interacted with their pets through washing, brushing, petting and feeding.
The game was launched August 8, 2008 by Playfish and at its "peak had 50 million monthly players, 5 million daily players and made as much as $100,000 a day by selling in-game items."[3] Electronic Arts acquired Playfish in November 2009. The game was scheduled to close on June 14, 2013; the server shut down on June 18.[4][citation needed]
An iOS version, Pet Society Vacation was released in 2011 with similar gameplay, but set on a tropical island with new settings like an underwater reef.[5]
Gameplay
[edit]Players' pets could interact with each other within the "friend" network. Pets could visit the pets of their owner's friends and perform activities with these pets (washing, grooming, feeding, etc.) A pet could visit other pets as many times a day as it wished. The players received coins and Paw Points on their first visit of the day to each friend,[6] but earn only Paw Points for subsequent visits. Participating in the Daily Lottery, visiting friends, winning awards, cleaning or playing with pets, winning hurdle races, or betting on the outcome of hurdle races also provided players with ways to earn coins. Visiting friends, buying items, and using the stadium earned players Paw Points.
Paw Points were akin to XP/EXP (Experience) in other social games of the sort; gaining sufficient paw points made the pet level up. When a pet leveled-up, the player received coins, new features and special statuses. During Pet Society's initial release, there were 34 levels. In 2009, after houses were enlarged to accommodate 10 rooms, 13 additional levels were added, bringing the total to 47. In August 2010, the level cap of Pet Society was raised to 100.
Some certain items were required to be bought at a certain level.
Reception
[edit]Gamezebo gave it 5 out of 5 stars, liking the content variety and fun unique activities, but warning the players aren't raising pets.[7]
