== Proposed article for creation: Ford Family Tree == |
==Okay, me too== |
Hi there, I'm currently hashing out a family tree for the Ford family dynasty on one of my sandbox pages (the family tree template is not user friendly let's just say that) I was wondering if anyone who had more experience with this sort of thing could help work on it. It's here: [[User:CaffeinAddict/sandbox/2]]. [[User:CaffeinAddict|CaffeinAddict]] ([[User talk:CaffeinAddict|talk]]) 07:53, 16 January 2022 (UTC) |

As time permits, I'll contribute. I have edited articles on [[Kensington Market]], [[The Annex]], [[Koreatown, Toronto|Koreatown]], and [[The Junction]]. [[User:Avt_tor|Avt_tor]] 20:55 19 January 2006 (UTC) |

==Don River Article== |

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to [[WP:URS|unreliable sources]] and [[predatory journal]]s. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the [[Wikipedia:User scripts/Most imported scripts|39th most imported script on Wikipedia]]. The idea is that it takes something like |
*John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14. (<code><nowiki>John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.</nowiki></code>) |
and turns it into something like |
* John Smith "{{highlight|[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]|pink}}" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14. |
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{tl|cite web}}, {{tl|cite journal}} and {{tl|doi}}. |
Anyone know what happened to the Don River article? I was editing it recently, and now it appears to have disappeared. |
The script is mostly based on [[WP:RSPSOURCES]], [[WP:NPPSG]] and [[WP:CITEWATCH]] and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed. |

One question/ provocation: Wikipedia lags badly on specific articles about [[List of Toronto parks|Toronto parks]]. I wrote the second one (AFAIK) on [[Trinity Bellwoods Park]]. Prior to that only [[High Park]] was written, and since then barely a half dozen have been started. More are needed, no? |

Recently, a user [[User:Fat_pig73]] added a category called ''Rivers of Toronto'' and changed the cat for all the rivers going through Toronto from ''Rivers of Ontario'' to ''Rivers of Toronto''. I think this is an unnecessary subcategorization. For one thing there are only three rivers that go through Toronto, the [[Humber_River_(Toronto)|Humber]], the [[Don_River_(Toronto)|Don]] and the [[Rouge_River_(Ontario)|Rouge]]. All of them originate outside of Toronto, therefore you can't categorize them as exclusively Toronto rivers. The other watercourses are named creeks - transboundary creeks ([[Mimico Creek]], [[Etobicoke Creek]]), tributaries to the three rivers ([[Taylor-Massey Creek (Don)]], [[German Mills Creek (Don)]]). Only [[Highland Creek]] is exclusively a Toronto watershed. |
So I think this makes the category a very small subset, thus non-notable. I am putting this here for discussion for Toronto Wikipedians before I nominate it for deletion. [[User:Atrian|Atrian]] 00:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC) |

Hello. I'm a member of the [[Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team|Version 1.0 Editorial Team]], which is looking to identify quality articles in Wikipedia for future publication on CD or paper. We recently began assessing articles using [[Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment|these criteria]], and we are are asking for your help. As you are most aware of the issues surrounding your focus area, we are wondering if you could provide us with a list of the articles that fall within the scope of your WikiProject, and that are either [[Wikipedia:Featured articles|featured]], [[Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/List of A-Class articles|A-class]], B-class, or [[Wikipedia:Good articles|Good articles]], with no POV or copyright problems. == Your thoughts on [[Binns]] == |
Hi Toronto Wikipedians, I just noticed [[Binns]] in recent changes - it is apparently a Toronto-based company. The article is currently very advert-ish, I have tagged it with {{tl|advert}}, but I'm unsure if they meet the [[WP:CORP|notability guidlines for companies]] - it's conceivable if, as the article says, they have won international awards. I'm wondering whether you guys think this company is notable enough to have an article, or whether they're just trying to use wikipedia for free advertising (I'm inclined towards the latter, given that it is the sole contribution from [[User:Binns]].) -- [[User:AJR|AJR]] | [[User talk:AJR|Talk]] 22:13, 12 April 2006 (UTC) |
The guideline states "The company or corporation has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the company itself." There is no online source referenced for material here. I think you've answered your own question. [[User:Avt tor|Avt tor]] 17:01, 19 April 2006 (UTC) |

I don't think much has changed with [[Binns]], and someone has removed the {{tl|advert}} tag.--[[User:Stetson|Stetson]] 04:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC) |

== Toronto Neighbourhood Pages == |
I've noted on the Toronto discussion page that there is some inconsistancy and perhaps contradiction between some Toronto Neighbourhood pages. Perhaps the editors who are a part of this project could do some work to make them constant. Maybe also something like a unified format for the neighbourhood pages would be nice? I'm not sure how these things normally work, but just a suggestion. I've created a page for [[Corso Italia, Toronto|Corso Italia]] and expanded [[Earlscourt, Toronto|Earlscourt]] to clarify the connection between the two. (Both articles are still stubs.) If anyone else is interested, I'd be happy to work with some others on the Toronto Neighbourhoods on the whole. I don't think more info needs to be added to most of them (at least the ones that exist already), but unity and consistancy would be good.--[[User:Stetson|Stetson]] 05:07, 15 May 2006 (UTC) |
