Austrian, not Australian. I can't help but think some explanation of interpretation of this film may be helpful as it was so badly misunderstood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.254.51.170 (talk) 08:18, 22 January 2012 (UTC) |

Funny Games (2008 film) → Funny Games (2007 film) – This request was first raised in 2009 (see above), however the policies at the time pointed towards the 2008 disambig, as this was the year of its first public release. However, since then consensus changed and the guidelines for naming conventions (films) and film release dates were brought into line, as the conflicted each other. Now the guidance states "first verifible release, including festivals". This change is now replicated in the category guidance. As this film first screened in 2007, the current title is incorrect, per our own guidelines. :::I'm thinking when films reach complicated approaches to a genre (i.e: a "horror" film that doesn't fall easily into what someone opinion of a cookie format of the genre) become complictaed. I would suggest writing a Style section with proper prose of critics discussing the genre as it appears to be debatable amongst Wikipedians, audiences and critics. This seems to happen when any sort of "arty" thriller or horror film creeps into the day. Just sorting out something similar with The Lighthouse. Horror or not?
[edit]Can we remove all elements saying that this is a horror film?81.101.15.25 (talk) 08:10, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- I think it has to do with digging up the five-year-old discussion, above. I'll drop a note at WT:FILM for more input. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:17, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
