At the Third International Exhibition and Presentation, "Innovative Learning Technology", the academy won a prize for the contest "Innovation in the Learning Process." The academy was awarded the title of "Leader of Modern Education" for its many years of innovative teaching through the modernization of education. While a member of the Ukrainian project "Best Institutions of Medical Education in Ukraine - Medical Olympus", the academy was awarded a diploma from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, for its significant contribution to the development of medical education in the country. Students who seek admission in first year medicine should have received a secondary school certificate or higher, or twelve years of education, with passes in chemistry, physics, biology, and English. If English is not the applicant's principal language, he or she must produce an official record of passing in the English language.

Students with a school certificate of ten or eleven years of study, need to complete a one-year preparatory certificate course (Premedical Program). Courses in mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, and English form the basis of this program. This program offers students the opportunity to complete their higher secondary schooling. Upon successful completion, students receive the academy's Higher School Diploma and are eligible to enroll as first year medical students.

Applications are accepted from the first of March until the end of November. All applications should be submitted with the certificate of education, or its registered copy with indication of studied subjects and marks to the admission commission.

All certificates should be in English. If the original certificates are in a language other than English, copies of the English translation must be enclosed, or shown to the authorities with the sworn translators. Entry to the medical course is very competitive, and the admission regulations provide several different categories of entrance. - Original copy of certificate of secondary education with the list of disciplines studied, marks received, as well as a translation of these documents into the Ukrainian language<br>
- Medical certificate confirming absence of contraindications for study at the higher medical institution of Ukraine<br>
- Insurance policy of Ukraine insurance company for rendering first aid<br>
- Photos sized 4x6 cm (8 pieces)<br>
- Receipt of payment for one year of tuition before the beginning of study at the University.

Poltava State Medical and Dental University, also known as the Ukrainian Medical and Stomatological Academy (UMSA; Ukrainian: Українська медична стоматологічна академія), is a Ukrainian state-run medical and dental school in Poltava, Ukraine.

The university was founded in 1921 by the dental faculty of Kharkiv Medical Academy.[2] In 1967, it moved to the city of Poltava and was renamed the Poltava Ukrainian Medical Stomatological (oral medicine) Academy (PUMSA).[3] In 1992, a Faculty for international students was founded in order to improve the quality of Medical training for foreign citizens. 938 international students from 42 different countries including India, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Pakistan, Libya, Russia, Turkmenistan etc. In 1994, the university received the sixth-highest accreditation level because of its low death rate during surgery and was renamed Poltava State Medical University (PSMU).
