Do you have any source for your claim that Scorsese is an English surname or of Anglo-Cornish origin? DuncanHill (talk) 20:32, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
: Yeah DuncanHill, Ancestry.com for "Score", the cornish part was from houseofnames.com for "Score" and another website about names for "Scorsese".--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 21:26, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
::Houseofnames is not by any means a reliable source. I would say - and this is of course a personal observation - that having grown up in Cornwall, and having read and edited extensively on the history of Cornwall, the only Scorseses I have ever heard of are Italian-Americans. That "Score" may be of English origin I would happily grant, but "Scorsese" is not the same as "Score"! DuncanHill (talk) 21:30, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
:::Scorsese is almost certainly from Devon of Anglo-Saxon origin, the only reason I added Anglo-Cornish is because other websites said Scorsese was from Cornwall of Norman origin, given how close Devon and Cornwall are to each other, I thought it deserved a mention. As for Martin, maybe it's also Italian, but I can find no sources for Italian origin, but can find sources for Devon origin. For all we know one of his ancestors might of been a British Isles sailor? But my main concern is the name in general, not just one case. --Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 21:39, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
::::If you are going to have any of that in the article then you need reliable sources, not the likes of ancestry.com or houseofnames.com. I'm sorry but it is utter nonsense to claim it as a Devonian or Cornish name. DuncanHill (talk) 21:46, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
:::::Almost every surname article on Wikipedia uses Ancestry, Surname Database or House of Names as sources, so either it's fine, or there's going to be a big clean-up. Scorsese could really be from a lot of reigons of England, anywhere the Saxons used their word scoru to describe a "steep place", later adapted into Middle English score, then most probably in the Middle Ages when surnames came into being, Scorsese was used by individuals or families to identify themselves.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Episode table template

[edit]

Hi, I noticed a few pages on my watchlist had edits done by you where you replaced the general table with the episode table template, however in doing so you didn't take note of the widths of the table. Some of them, such as First Dates (Australia) were set to a width of 70% because they clashed with the infobox, and there wasn't as many columns as there are for scripted shows, allowing the smaller total width. I've reset them on that page and What Really Happens on the Gold Coast and What Really Happens in Thailand, but please just take note if you are doing it to other pages. Thanks, -- Whats new?(talk) 02:16, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Fictional Scottish people of Irish descent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
