Brett has played [[American football|football]] since he was 7 years old. He was a member of the 8th grade Blalack Middle School football team that finished 8-0 on A-Team and 7-0-1 on B-Team. It was the first time in [[Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District | CFBISD]] history that a middle school team finished undefeated at both the A-Team level and B-Team level. At the start of his sophomore year in high school, Esch made the varsity football squad at Creekview, but then opted to move down to the JV squad for more playing time, where he was the starting [[Quarterback]] and [[Defensive End]] for the Mustangs. |

While at Bethel, he served as Editor-in-Chief of The Bethel Collegian, the campus student-run newspaper, from 2022-2024. |
