The [[Marist Fathers]] founded a college in 1850 at the invitation of the mayor of [[Saint-Chamond, Loire|Saint-Chamond]]. When expelled by the political regime in 1877 they built outside the town and by 1889 had about 245 students, most all borders. This became a college in 1923, the year the chapel was built. |

In 1969 closure at Saint Louis School caused an influx of students and in 1973 a merger took place with Fenlon Girls College, leading to the new name Sainte Marie-Fénelon School. The primary division had been added in 1972. |
